Ok so I think this card is boss but I want to hear some thoughts from others.  I do not like the 3cmc.....I would be curious what the average spell count is played after T3.  I think that most opponents will not have that stable of a board state by T3 to just sit back and not play spells..........afterthought......imagine this guy with {Huntmaster of the Fells} on the board.  I am mostly talking Modern here FYI but feel free to make cases for other formats.

Whenever a player casts a spell, put a +1/1 counter on MGH.

The argument about instant board state is valid.  The clock is real tho.  Does the clock override the lack of instant board state?.......maybe not for modern IDK

You'd need 2 spells cast before bolt to get the thing out of bolt range. Unless you're playing like rug delver and can try to respond to the bolt with 2 spells, you'll basically never save it.

I don't think the path argument is valid, so many things die to path.

The "it doesn't do anything before becoming a basic land" is relevant. I do like it in RUG delver (a deck I'll never play) but I think it'll be bad.

Limited bomb, maybe sideboard material in standard. That's it. Three mana is too much.

I disagree that three mana is too much. In modern, from what I know as a modern noob, I don't think it will be played. In standard.. Never played standard or ever will. From a player that does casual and edh MP only, this card is fantastic. I will normally have at least three other players go before me in a mp game, so that is usually at least 4-5 spells cast before my turn. You play him and on your next turn pop an {Alexi's Cloak} on that bad boy... Especially in {G} {U}. Mana, for me, has never been a problem.

Now I mean we can go on all day about what kills it, but my standpoint is it can withstand burn for awhile if you cast even something like {Gitixian Probe} and {Serum Visions}/{Brainstorm} to keep him alive from {Lightning Bolt}.

Well, goyf dies to path too...  I don't want to have a dies to removal debate but I think that path is such universally good removal that it's not the best counter example.

In standard, this card is junk. Gets outclassed by anything with CMC 4+, so if you're in the draw it's crap. Also, there are just so many better threes, this guy won't see any play. But hey, this is just my opinion, I could be 100% wrong

It's a Timmy card. That's about it. 3 mana is too much in every format. I mean sure one game it'll be a 9/9 trampled that swings lethal but in any other game it's be a 1/1 for 3 that can't swing through the rhino for 3 turns

watch us all eat our words as some one builds it into a burn deck that was already splashing green for atarka drops the hydra, blasts your face with 3-4 kill spells and then it begins it rampage...you draw into your kill spell in time for them to drop atarka then next turn...

Ya .... That'll never happen what burn deck runs a 7 drop dragon?

If you meant the command then maybe but still a 3 mana 1/1 in an off colour is not something burn likes ...
