Notes:
Well I did it! Bought my third truly competitive modern deck after affinity and wilted Abzan, I'm excited :) all the cards I'm missing should be here by Tuesday or Thursday Buahahaha 😝

Nixitalian

Well done! It looks pretty amazing!

Splicer

I played against this deck on untap. It was pretty fun!

Codester1991

Heck yes! I decided on batterskull over wurmcoil because I had one and didn't have the other also, a vigilant lifelink death touch hornet queen seemed fun :)

Basically a carbon copy of the modern tier 2 list on the top of here with that exception so no creativity on my end. Lol

Codester1991

Could I drop serum visions to 3 and run an Ugin as a 1 of? I mean, main board board wipe for a deck that ramps doesn't seem horrible. Especially since I can pop him off as well and get the hive minds down for free then play any pact I'd like, or I can sideboard slaughter pact and see how it goes from there. I can fish Ugin with ancient stirrings that's the only reason I'm thinking of this

Mattao19

Serum visions is such an important card in here though

Yes it is, but I've seen 3 or 4 decks running it as a 3 of and running 1 ruric thar I believe. So I think it may be okay, I'm gonna play test and see how it goes most likely

Codester1991

I'm also tempted to find a spot for {choke} in the sideboard since twin is one of this decks big problems

Remillo

Honestly, if you want to run an Ugin, I'd cut the spirit guide.  I know it's in the list to enable a turn 1 Titan, but honestly, the only reason the deck did so well with it is because one of the pro players championing the deck was cheating (palming 7s) to have turn 1 plays with it.  Unless you have it turn 1, it's pretty much a dead draw, and as only a one-of?  I'd say cut it.

What? Really? Who cheated? I'm confused!

Regardless the deck is still one of the best decks in modern and I would leave guide in there not only for the T1 Titan but it's just helpful

Codester1991

Yah guide has saved my butt having him t2 drawing an amulet is great, pretty much 0 drop amulet then summer bloom into Titan

And about the cheating, is there a link to that? I'm sure if the pro's were cheating and someone knew about it it would most definitely be a big deal and brought up somewhere in this forum or another

Remillo

This Reddit thread discusses it.

Stephen Speck was caught presenting a 53 card deck to his opponent with a perfect 7 palmed, ready to go.  Literally the only reason he was playing the deck was to cheat, since he was also amazingly terrible at playing the deck.

Oh wow, that's crazy

Codester1991

Think I'm gonna attempt to foil this out :) Already have a bunch of the lands foiled and know a guy with 4 foily Titans so boom!

Remillo

Speck was more of a GP and Open Series personality, but is definitely part of the deck's resurgence.  There's no whiff of foul play for Cohen and Black who did well at the Pro Tour with the deck.  But as much as I love the deck, I'm still hard pressed to call it one of the 'best decks in modern'.  It's a gorgeous piece of deck crafting, but it's not the powerhouse people think it is.  That said, have a blast playing it!
