Ok so im out of work now and was thinking about makeing a friday night magic/card shop in my local town since the nearest one is so many miles away. But i have a problem ive nvr been to a card shop or nothing like and was just wondering if anyone could give tips maybe tell me how fmn works and things like that. Thanks

I know you have to register with wizards, that's all I can say. I think there is a link on the wizards page. Same idea as a franchise if I'm not mistaken.

It would take a fair bit of start-up capital, but I have some friends that have done it.

Rules for FNM:

Don't forget the SWAG:

You should probably carry other stuff:  Warhammer, Pokemon (i know, i know), Comics, yadda yadda.

This what I would want to do when I get into a area with no FNM and even a card shop

Rass

Well I would look into how many people in your area actually play magic. If there is not enough people it will be a waste of time. Also to be a sanctioned FNM I believe there has to be a judge there. This will also give you access to the promo cards to give for free. I would suggest talking to wizzards and possible if you go on vacation talk to an actual card shop. People tend to tell you more if they are not afraid of you being competition. That's all I got

We have a pretty good group that plays magic in my town, but when we get together and play its at mcdonalds. And trust me we can pack a mid size mcdonalds. But alot ppl around here steal there cards from walmart thats the only thing that kinda makes me nervous about doing this.

Rass

Lol they will do the same to you

Sevenfold

Thats why i feel it would be a waste of time to do.

Rass

The only thing I can suggest is collect the money first then order a box and only bring what people bought

BlackJester

That's why you keep them behin the counter.

Pokemon is a good intro into TCG, and when you're all growed up you can play the real thing: Magic. 😜

I owned a ton of Pokémon cards but never learned how to play, I used to play a ton of Yu-Gi-Oh though. Then, I found M:tG, this is the sickest TCG known to man!

Walmart is huge if you have like a small shop just keep the cards in a case that have to be unlocked by you or another employe when a sale is made, It's what my shop owner does and he only does magic and yugioh tourneys and a ussual Fnm is 20-30 ppl in this like large living room sized building, like it's the size of a mom and pop tatto shop and he does all the mtg events and does different format tourneys

BlackJester

Besides, players tend to respect nice, small shop owners. At least way more than Walmart.
