linked ability duration

The card in particular that I'm looking at is Adaptive Automaton , As Adaptive Automaton enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Adaptive Automaton is the chosen type in addition to its other types.

When it enters the battlefield, the triggered ability triggers, and the static ability is linked to it. I'm trying to figure out when the static ability is active, particularly when the creature is in the graveyard.

Relevant rules: 112.6a Characteristic-defining abilities function everywhere, even outside the game. (See rule 604.3.)

604.3. Some static abilities are characteristic-defining abilities. A characteristic-defining ability conveys information about an object's characteristics that would normally be found elsewhere on that object (such as in its mana cost, type line, or power/toughness box). Characteristic-defining abilities function in all zones. They also function outside the game.

607.2g If an object has both a static ability and one or more triggered abilities printed on it in the same paragraph, each of those triggered abilities is linked to the static ability. Each triggered ability refers only to actions taken as a result of the static ability. See rule 603.10.

604.2. Static abilities create continuous effects, some of which are prevention effects or replacement effects. These effects are active as long as the permanent with the ability remains on the battlefield and has the ability, or as long as the object with the ability remains in the appropriate zone, as described in rule 112.6.

My understanding of the situation is, that do long as it can enter the battlefield, the triggered ability will trigger, and from then on, the static ability will make it retain that creature type.

In the grave he does not retain his ability
I'll have to find the rule but essentially his "I am groot" ability is technically read as "as long as I am on the battlefield I am groot"
Like rule 604.3, or does that apply to things like {Wheel of Fate} and {Crimson Kobolds}?

{adaptive automaton}
Thing is, the choice is only made when automaton enters. There is no value for the creature type, so outside of the battlefield it would not have the other types. I'll come back on the ruling, suspect rule 603.10 says something.

It's the new object rule -

400.7. An object that moves from one zone to another becomes a new object with no memory of, or relation to, its previous existence.

When the automaton goes to the graveyard, it loses the choice made as it entered the battlefield, whatever it was.  So in the graveyard it only has it's listed card types, Artifact, Creature and Construct.

The static characteristic rule would apply to something like {Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth}.  It applies to Adaptive Automaton only while on the battlefield and the choice is locked in under the second part of its game text.

Thanks for the justification, something didn't seem right about how I interpreted the ability, but I couldn't find a rule to support my other theories.
