Although not confirmed - MM2 has been described to go up to the Scars Block.

Most likely a lack of Innistrad indicates we will see a Lily, snapcaster and crater hoof reprint eventually. Which means: Modern Masters 3 will happen.

I won't sticky this until we have an official announcement, but remember: anything is possible.

Why is {Snapcaster Mage} so expensive? What decks even play him right now?

Why is {Snapcaster Mage} so expensive? What decks even play him right now?

He soared during PT BNG, and has yet to come down. Also, people are assuming {Treasure Cruise} will be banned and if that happens, {Splinter Twin} and {Scapeshift} could be the leaders of the pack (both of which at least sometime run Snappy). As for MM3, I think it is way too early, and I also think that it will come out in 2016, not 2017. Why do Conspiracy 2 which sells mediocre at $4 when they can do MM3 which would sell out at $12 MSRP? You could be right though.
