Did some interesting number crunching on my Tumblr and I thought I'd repost it here.

ASFAN of a Pack: Money

So to those unfamiliar with Blogatog, an ASFAN is the number of cards an average booster will have of a certain quality. For example, the ASFAN of multicolor cards in Khans is 1.85, meaning the average pack has 1.85 multicolor cards. Using MTGStocks (http://www.mtgstocks.com/sets/239/statistics) I have calculated the ASFAN for cash in Khans pack (aka how much the average pack is worth).

Commons: $1.76

Uncommons: $0.93

Rares: $3.17

Mythics: $8.73

Rare/Mythic (7:1): $3.86

ASFAN: $6.55

Now this ASFAN is a HUGE number, but when we take into account the facts that we (as players) don't get full value from stores, and that commons and uncommons are practically worthless (for standard sets), it makes more sense. A more realistic number to look at would be the ASFAN for Rares/Mythics as they appear in packs (7:1), which is $3.86.

This is really interesting. I'd like to see some kind of spread showing how packs were vs are now and such.
