Conversation at local hangout-

Friend one - "hey man what's up?"
Friend two - "nothing much , got a new job!"

F1- "sweet! What is it?"
F2- "It is at taysby's troubled tablet kiosk at the mall"

F1-  "awesome! What do you of there!?"
F2- "we help people repair their broken tablets, like cracked screens and stuff!"

F1- "right on. I bet you make a lot if money doing that!, so you can buy lunch today!!"
F2- "actually, we don't get any money. Apparently you get hired as an "intern" and we don't make anything. But the owner Taysby days we can put this experience on our resumes! I'm reeaaally excited for this opportunity"

F2- "so you think you can cover lunch today?"

Probably just gonna be running it yourself

Well look at it from their shoes: why would I work for free somewhere when I can get paid somewhere else. I am just trying to get a job for income, not a recommendation.

Otherwise you're hiring high school students...whose parents will sue you for not paying their kids

Well you do come up with some off the wall ideas tays lol. The gold thing, your stances on anything political, and now a business venture that (probably) will fail against bigger more established tech companies. Just opinion of course, you could be successful, just not realistic in this market. Too saturated.

I feel we aren't saying no to you doing a business; it's more so how you think a business will go. Not paying the people who support your business as employees usually ends with low morale. People leaving kiosks, fixing screens for free for friends, damaging the customers product further etc is the result of unhappy employees.

I would be paying a manager (however most likely not a wage, probably 25% of net profit) to keep an eye on things while I'm not available, so I'm fairly certain that those things wouldn't be a problem.

So your paying a commission? What happens the first month or two that you net nothing, and all profits have to go back into the business? Ie: advertising , kiosk rental, employee morale

Ok I take this one back. A commission is based on sales. A percentage of profit is a stake in the company. So your going to take on a partner that gets $.25 for every dollar you make?

Probably have to screen your willing employees for legality to work in the United States at that rate

Probably gonna get a bunch of naysayers that don't offer reasonable alternatives.  ;)

I thought people already suggested it pay a staff or don't have a staff. Unless your opening a part of Google or something similar people are not going to take a job for no work. I know I worked at a job where I made commission when I was in my late teens/ early twenties. I had no problem to have a no call no show since they weren't really paying me to show up. They also needed me because they couldn't find anyone else to put up with their crap of the unsteady work. So I see you having some one who may work but there is gonna be a lot of head aches. Good luck I like to see that your motivated but unrealistic.

I would start out by figuring out how many hours your place will be open. The see how many of those hours you can be there and working. Then see if an employee is necessary. Yes I know you want to be able to take time off but is it more economical for your business to take time off and pay for an employee or just work the extra hours yourself. I know people who open a small grocery store and they basically lived there until business picked up.

As far as pay. Start off minimum wage or what is the average income for an entry level job in your area. Which ever one is higher is where I would start.

If these were easy answers we would all open a business. Basically your gonna have to work your ass off and most likely lose money for a while before you see any light at the end of the tunnel. You seem to have the determination to accomplish this. Now you just need to put in the hard work to make this happen. Good luck.

From what I hear you either have to be all in for your business or you will go out of business. There is no half assing a start up company.

Words of wisdom here. Starting a new business  is like having a kid more or less. You have to feed water and pay for it all the time, and eventually if you have some major luck it can pay off.
