I've recently pulled {sliver hivelord} and after a few years of a sliver EDH consideration I've decided I now gave my commander. Not asking for a deck list cause there are many threads already, my main question is the best strategy for this deck? My group is pretty cutthroat and a lot of that is my own doing :) but which is the best way to go ie:mana ramp, control, burn etc? With a five color there is unlimited possibilities but with a limited deck count. Anyone who either runs/ran a sliver EDH have some past or present wisdom to share? What are the major weakness's with this deck?

Well, if you want to play Hivelord as your commander, you'll want to abuse the hell out of the ability.  Play your normal Sliver Aggro/Control, but add in as many board wipes as possible, so you can wrath the board repeatedly and laugh as you still have your creatures swinging.  You'll want to play a few Spot-Exile effects to be able to shut down your opponents' own Avacyns and Indestructible creatures, as well as ways to protect your Hivelord from your opponents' removal.

So I should try focusing on a bant color scheme, this was the original thought I had for the build. Will have to find a few more board wipes but that shouldn't be to hard. My main concern was the amount of counter spells I should focus on. But you make a very interesting point. I have a spare {Isochron sceptre} and will utilize it for exile, also thinking flickers would also be helpful in protecting my own slivers

Don't forget that Red gives you Damage-based Wipes.  You can also use {Constricting Sliver} in conjunction with {Sliver Queen}, {Sliver Hive} and {Sliversmith} to exile things at-will.  Constricting is probably one of the more powerful ones printed in M14 and 15.

I think {Sliver Overlord} is a bit better since you can tutor.
This, tutoring is very strong in EDH and often you'll want to close out a game with flying or un blockable dmg. Hivelord is easily the new #1 tutor target when you didn't need a specific answer but being a 5/5 also hurts him.

If I had an overlord I would defiantly choose him for my general. I will probaly order one eventually but right now all I have is the hivelord as a viable commander

Understandable! He's definitely second best IMO 😉
