How was your pre-release?

core sets aren't supposed to have a theme.  just teach new players how to play.

But how hard would it be to put in some kind of theme? Slivers were all at uncommon and higher, and walls were almost exclusively at uncommon with hate in 1/5 of the packs ({Siege Dragon}). Why couldn't we have gotten something that felt coherent? Also, why is landwalk and intimidate in the set? They randomly hose people and aren't really in any of the other sets, so why make the players learn mechanics they don't need to learn?

I went two and two had mono blue with artifacts. All flyers and did pretty well until I played against flying deathtouch. I got killed. The strange thing about my color choice was that I went red and had all crappy cards and so just went blue flyers haha. Best pull was a llanowar waste foiled along with an Urborg

Mine was awesome. Played black green with lots of removal and placed first. 2 {staff Of the death magus} and {urborg, tomb of yawgmoth} won me games. They couldn't keep up with my life gain... Second prerelease tournament, played bant with jace, 5 counterspells, 2 of the white "exile attacking creature", 2 {ajani's pridemates}, avacyn, {hornet queen}, and lots of life gain. It was good.

opened white, got avacyn and garruk, so i played b/w splashing green. went 2-1-1, but in the draw round we got an extra pack since we were the feature match and it was a japanese m13 pack. m13 had japanese scooze and the m14 had {nissa worldwaker}. we were trying to figure out how to split it, he offered his {soul of new phyrexia} and the scooze if he got the nissa. i said alright since i need phyrexia for edh althought i also need nissa for standard. i figured japanese scooze was the real win.

5-1 with BUG Graveyard stuff lol

I won 5 packs and my 6 packs from the event and my best pull was Soul of Innisrrad and Caves of Koilos FML.

It was a great event though. There's a lot of fun cards in BUG especially ones that take creatures from any GY!!

My best play was I milled my opp. for 7 {Mind Sculpt} and it took his White promo. I was then at 8 life. Next turn he gets me to 4 (he's at 6) and I rip a land and play that card that reanimates from any gy and I took his promo and went back to 20 and proceeded to pressure him for the win

I went 3-1 with rackdos got 8 packs, only good card was 1 urborg but I'm fine with it xD

I was able to beat a {congregate} sending our 2hg opponents to 75 life with a {Soul of New Phyrexia}, an extremely well timed {In Garruk's Wake} topdeck, and 3 turns of alpha striking. That was cool... We boarded in the 2nd copy of IGW after that.


Went 3-0-1 for 9 prize packs. Got a {Sliver Hivelord}. Fun fun,

I took 5th with a dega deck. Would have taken 3rd or 4th but I had an inconsistent land draw a couple of games

I had one good game, in which, I had {roaring primadox} on the field and just kept bouncing genesis hydra back to my hand. It was so evil

Played B/R and went 3-1. initially thought my deck sucked, and got matched against a guy that normally beats my butt at draft. won 2-0. confidence surged. played a guy running four colors next. just a bad idea. won 2-0. next guy handed my butt to me. i learned that avacyn kills it in sealed from this guy. and so does oppressive rays. went 1-2. then 2-0 against some kiddo that did fairly decent, but i overpowered him like crazy. Placed third overall (not saying much since there was like 15 remaining) but i was happy. got urgborg, hushwing, soul of innistrad, and foily ornithopter, which is notable i dont care who you are.

Went b/r after picking black as my color choice. Pulled a lily Vess (foil!) along with a lotttt of burn. My mission was clear. Went

But somehow snuck into third place! lolrus placed first, we had 14 prize packs between the two of us. Most notable prize pull- Ajani.

Moneekah wanted to play in a prerelease so we doubled our chances and it payed off! I went 4-0 and she placed 3rd with 3-1 (I think). Went selesnya this time and had soul of theoros, a few flyers, hushing griff and hornets nest.

Most games I either outraced or clogged the board with that life gain wall and {Ajani's Pridemate} or the hornet nest. The soul, flyers and two of the white removal spells won me most games. In the last round I fought through a Nissa and Soul of Zendikar. Whew. Collectively Moneekah and I won 14 packs 😜😁😍

nice congrats. it seems like this format (sealed, at least), provided a lot more boardstalls, with not that many boardwipes. I think {congregate}
is becoming playable (in sealed). had an an opponment gain 24 life on me, and I was just waiting on mine to gain even more.
