In edh your lands still have a color identity (the mana symbols that it taps for), so your lands have to match your commander. You could use RX or XR fetch lands though.

Lands are colorless and when they could produce another color they produce colorless.

The simple rule of color identity is this: look at every mana symbol on the card, and each of those colors counts towards the card's color identity.

Lands are colorless, but simply having those symbols goes against the Commanders Identity, and therefore are illegal.
