If I have a creature out and I attack then use bloodrush from a card in my hand, can bloodrush be countered?

Yes it can be countered:) but not by normal counters since the blood rush card is not cast

Blood rush is an ability the card gives the creature with a specified increase in power/toughness to the creature until end of turn

Or they can just use an instant to boost their creature after you blood rush:)

Easy card to work against blood rush is {Dismiss Into Dreams} awesome:)

Ibtrickey is close, but not exactly correct. Bloodrush does NOT give counters ((counters stay after the end of the turn). Bloodrush gives the creature a temporary power/toughness boost.

About being countered: using bloodrush on something is not casting the creature spell. You cannot use {essence scatter} to counter the {ghor clan rampager} someone is bloodrushing. {cancel} wouldn't work either as the spell isn't being cast.

The way to counter it would be to use something such as {Voidslime} to counter the ability.

But it CAN be with stuff like  {Stifle}!

It's not a spell it's an activated ability much like {Scavenging ooze}. You can also do it at instant speed (Provided a creature is attacking) so say you swing with {Burning Tree Emissary} and they {Lightning Strike} it. You can in response Bloodrush it!!

Bloodrush states "discard this card: [effect]". You are not casting a spell, you are activating an ability. Note the colon.
