Would Fetches break standard?

Okay let's talk about the implications of fetchlands being printed in M15 (if it happens)? Would having them in standard with Shocklands break standard? Would WoTC take the risk in order to save it's favorite format (Modern)?

Discuss.

I think they would wait until a possible return to Zendikar, which is now more likely because of the new m15 spoiler.

To add more to the discussion: if the fetches are reprinted, will it be the new ones or the old ones?

People in my area seem to think that it would break standard, but I keep explaining to them that if {Thoughtseize}, {Mana Confluence}, shocks and fetches are all in standard, red decks would come back in a very big way. I can just see the amateur at my LGS putting himself to 15 turn 1 using a fetch->shockland->{Thoughtseize}.

If shocks are reprinted... It would be all 10...

I assume you meant fetches.  The new ones probably, hopefully the old ones too.

It wouldn't break standard, just make {door to nothingness}/{chromanticore} a valid deck.
Yep, I meant fetches. Thanks for the correction.

Also, now that I think about it you're right. It would be 10. But will the old ones affect modern at all?

If you are asking if the Onslaught fetches getting reprinted would affect modern, than yes, but not too much. Some decks would get slightly better, and the Zen fetches would go down in price a little bit.

Yep. That's what I meant.

Doubt they would do all 10 in one block. They didn't do that for the SoM block only five of them.

Shocks are only legal in standard for another 3 months anyway. Then after that, who knows. It's been a rumour for a while now that they are coming but that's all it's been. A rumour. Personally I believe they are more likely to be reprinted across an expansion block, so they can be spread out across 3 sets. But that's just my opinion.

Mattao19

Break standard? HELL NO!

Why?

Shocks are legal for 3 months then after that you have to fetch a basic forest ....

Mr_Fahrenheit

In standard without shocks it would just be a worse version of evolving wilds. It's in the eternal formats that it would be greatly utilised.

I think it is likely (not most likely, or more likely, just likely) that they will put them in a Core set, just because it gives them more power reprint them, thus keeping them in check. If we got fetchlands every other year in the blocks, people would get annoyed (because they want new things), but it would be normal in the Core sets.

I highly doubt they'll be in the core sets, fitting 10 fetches in one set is fairly difficult.
