The point of an emblem is to be a game changing effect, most of them, aside from Sorin, are very difficult to pull off.  Would it really be fair to ultimate {elspeth, knight errant} and have someone pay 3 mana for {oblivion ring} and make it worthless?
An emblem is not something you can target with something like {oblivion ring} or anything else for that matter.
That's what they are saying. It wouldn't be fair if you could.

But then why are there printed emblem cards??

To remind everyone that the emblem is in effect. Is it really necessary to nitpick every single thread after the question has been answered and proven when if you just spent a second to think about it you would be able to answer the question yourself?

With basic game elements lile this, I think the long discusion helps newer players by answering a few related questions in a single post. And about what can destroy an emblem, to my knowledge only {karn, liberated} has the power to stop them by starting a new game.

also having a board full of {chargin badgers} causing your opponent to scoop and thus destroys any emblems they once had.

Then why are there emblem cards? How does that make them not a permanent?

The emblem cards are basically just a reminder for the players.

So, then tokens are cards, too?  Emblem 'cards' come in the token slots in packs.  Emblem tokens are used as a reminder that an emblem is in effect.  Emblems, as a game mechanic, exist only to mark when an effect happens that states 'until the end of the game'.  Look at {Elspeth, Knight Errant}.  Her original printing just says "Until the end of the he game...", while the newer ones say she produces an emblem.  Emblems are symbolic and exist in the command zone.  There is no way to interact with them other than restarting he game.

Emblems are not permanents and are in the command zone.  As such you can not interact with them.

113.5. An emblem is neither a card nor a permanent. Emblem isn't a card type.
113.4. Abilities of emblems function in the command zone.

This Ibtrickey. The exist in the command zone. As of this time, very very very few things interact in the command zone. The only one I can think of of the top of my head is  {Derevi, Empyrial Tactician}
Want to point out that currently the only way to get rid of an emblem is to ultimate {Karn Liberated}. Most things can't touch anything in the command zone.

Mr_Fahrenheit

I know the discussion helps. I just see ibtrickey giving incorrect information and asking redundant questions nearly every day. This one gave me a bit of a brain explosion as it is blatantly obvious if you just spent a second to think about it, that's all.

Karn isn't the only way, just kill your opponent :)

make them scoop to a {charging badger} that has a {splinter twin} attached to it.
