What a bummer. This FTV is so underwhelming.

Maybe they finally learned their lesson and overly corrected themselves. I don't know why this is so hard for them grasp: if you want to give players cool cards and make sure everyone who wants one gets one, PRINT MORE OF THEM!

I feel like this time they tried to justify a weak lineup with cards that are expensive despite the fact that they're only expensive because there's a small supply of them rather than a high demand for them.

Not for nothing but: players complain constantly when they can't get the sets for MSRP, then one comes out and they complain that it's only selling for MSRP. It's really tough if you're Wizards to get the correct signal. So you don't want them to reprint {Jace, the Mind Sculptor}?

I think people should just be honest and say they want all the best cards and they don't want to pay for them. Over printing devalues everything, and takes away how unique and cool the product is.

Why not just raise the MSRP and print 20% more of them? I am not asking them to sell JTMS for $40, just expanding the amount of product available so that the set doesn't sell for triple the MSRP.

Dudecore

They could print it all day, that isn't the point. There is a point where it isn't worth hurting the product for marginal gain. When it comes to collectors editions and everything else, you can look at the constant collectible bubbles that burst (Comic books, sports cards, anime, ect).

You can still get a JtMS for $90. That is very decent considering you could buy a non-foil for over $150. They print enough to get them into hands, but at a price. That price happens to be lower then most.

I'm happy with it overall, I own a Damnnation and want over 1/3rd of the foils for EDH. Plus a foil {fracturing gust} is sweet for modern an the die is likely cool looking. I want it to sell for msrp for once.

Over time they will pick up value, especially with it having the only foil printing of cataclysm and the only cheap foil living death. But yeah, it's hard to go from FTV20 to this... But that set had 5 more cards and a jace... Not every (or anymore) FTV will be like that.

Is that really a thing?

And their reason for putting {decree of annihilation} in it.  We had an open spot and it had annihilation in the name.  WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST GIVE US THE FREAKING DAMNATION???

However, {damnation} reprint is coming soon
Something important to keep in mind: If something is missing from one of these, there's a good reason. It's not that we just completely miss obvious things, but that we have the entire picture of Magic's future to work with and know where something is going to fit better. If you really want something to appear again, stay patient. If it's something that's realistically reprintable, there's a good chance you can expect to see it eventually. Even horsemanship got its day in From the Vault: Legends and Commander (2013 Edition).
Not necessarily, if you reread the article, he said something was pulled at the last minute and {Decree of Annihilation} was jammed in its place. {Damnation} could have been taken out because they feared another FTV:20 (between the Three KIngdoms stuff and {Damnation}).

I've got this signed by the artist. I think it's too dark personally,  but I wouldn't swap it for the new one that's for sure.

Not for nothing, but isn't a player reward {Damnation} worth like $40? It's not like it would have catapulted this set over the top, would have just made it above MSRP. FtV Damnation would be worth just about $40 either way.
