So, I need to ask this girl to prom. And I need to know what I should do. I was on the swim team and she was on the diving team. My plan is to get a single rose and goggles that have "Prom?" on them. All you ladies on the forums help me (and gentlemen). Is this enough?

Go bigger. Fill her locker with goggles that say prom. And water. And fish.

MisterJH

I went into her room and post-it noted her entire bed and spelled prom in post its and all kinds of crazy ish, she loved it
I wouldnt recommend that, thats a pain in your arse and proms simply not worth it.
Dont even go, you dont want to spend the money, go do something fun instead

Im only going cuz shes my girlfriend and i didnt go last year

Dont.waste.Your.money.

No one ever asked me to prom.... Not all girls like that kind of thing. I do like the single rose idea though. Try that. If that doesn't work fake a heart attack and tell her that she needs to go to prom with you or you'll die. That was a joke. I think. Or was it?!

MarduArrow

Where I live, there is no prom

Put on the prom-goggles and fake a heart attack into the pool with a rose in your mouth. There we go.

Kaworu, the Fifth Child

Go one bigger and actually have a heart attack at a competition.

Well at least you have an excuse. Also it's usually the girl that gets asked out to prom

FustyDavorite

I'm with JH here. Prom is STUPID. Neither me nor my girlfriend want to go, but we got dragged into it.

Beyond that, are you looking to spark a relationship? Because that's an entirely different story. That's when you go to prom. It's the only worthwhile reason to. I went last year, and it's just a bunch of booty dancing and immature kiddos thinking that they are "totally gettin crunk on this gur" (sorry had to make it sound ghetto). But totally worth it if it's for a girl you want to stick around.

MisterJH

Actually no, spending well over $100 for a chance with a girl is NOT worth it, do you really want to waste a night and all that money on a girl you have a crush on? Sorry Fusty but prom isnt even good for booty dancing, thats homecoming. Prom is when you want to be all formal and dress nice and basically do all the things girls(in general) love to do. Its cool to dress up and all that but if you really want the most out of prom, take this girl and (assuming you two plan on after partying) just chill with her someplace safe and start the party early(assuming you two are 'chill' enough together) or do what my best friends doing and go to like seaworld or something. Most girls want the the 'prom experience' but its a silly ideal fantasy that 1) means nothing 2) wont live up to expectations and 3) take all YOUR money and effort, for bi reward. Dude. Im telling you. Take her to prom if you want but if youre a savvy man youll find a better solution. :/

From personal experience, Prom wasn't too exciting.  I only went my senior year because my girlfriend (at the time) and I had a bunch of friends going.  The way I asked her?  I just turned to her and asked 'Hey, are we going to Prom this year?' And that was that.  Even then, the most exciting parts of the night were the nice dinner before hand and the private time afterwards.  The time at the dance was spent sitting around talking to friends, the same as we did at lunch every day.  TLDR; Prom isn't all it's cracked up to be.

But if you really fancy this person, I'd say go for it.  Maybe you can find something bigger in common and spark something more (if that's your goal) after a nice evening.
