My friend has a deck that focuses on milling to make huge splinterfrights with some wreath of geists..but if that doesnt work for him he just uses jaces archivist to win with lab maniac. And to top it all off he has vengeful pharaohs in the GY and he uses gnaw to the bone to heal for like 50!!! What should i do? Oblivion curse and nihil spellbombs???

Sorry for no brackets damn you iphone!!!

{Splinterfright}
{Wreath of Giests}
{Jace's Archivist}
{Laboratory Maniac}
{Vengeful Pharoah}
{Gnaw to the Bone}
{Oblivion Curse}
{Nihil Spellbomb}

Are you planning to stay with Standard?

Nobbert

{liliana Vess}
Get all his graveyard creatures
{Karn, liberated}
Reset the game, keep his cards
{surgical extraction}
Exile those pesky {lab maniac}s after he inevitably discards one

BlackJester

Yeah, just run {Nihil Spellbomb} and other regular removal like {Go for the Throat}.

{leyline of the void} if not playing standard

There are two things I thought of:

1) Use cards that exile cards from graveyards. I think there might even be land that does that...not sure. Just search (on text mode) "exile from graveyard" in the database.

2) Use an UB mill deck with {Leyline of the Void}. Since he will already be milling himself, it won't take long to kill him with all the great mill cards out there! But be sure to toss in 4 {Dismember} or something like that. Save them for the {Laboratory Maniac}!

Edit: some good mill cards:

{Hedron Crab} ...my fav.
{Mind Funeral}
{Jace's Erasure} can be used with cards like {Forsee} for more mill!
{Jace, Memory Adept}
{Traumatize} can be used with {Keening Stone} to mill them out right away...but it is very expensive.

But yeah just search the database and you will find many treasures.

Well my deck could be casual..he made his mil deck standard to play with others but im flexible:)

You guys are awesome i will definitely be making an anti mill skeleton of a deck.. No more stupid win conditions mwahahaha

Some of those big eldrazi guys help when he mills you, even if you never cast it, but just use it as mill insurance.

BadLuckIrish

So today i was in a THG and got doubled milled. (5 {Jace's Erasure, 3 {Hedron Crab} and like 6 {Tome Scour} all focused on me). I would rather fight ELDRAZI than that and you all know i hate those. Whats an easy way to counter milling in general? Idc about the format.

BlackJester

Dredge, Elzdrazi, or {Gaea's Blessing}.

I thought both decks in a THG team were limited to 4 copies of one card between both decks.......meaning that both decks combined can only have 4 copies of a given card.

Heck, play reanimator. Let their millim work FOR you!  One {Living Death} and they'll {think twice} about mill. 8)

For the guy whose milling his own deck, use {relic of progenitus}. Exile all graveyards. Yours and his. That way he can't get benefits of it.
