This is the mono black Afro deck that is being used atm. I need to make it better!

Sparkle Ninja

Everforward

{Desecration demon} is an all around good card, I'd also consider since your playing a lot  of black permanents something like you might play {grey-merchant of asphodel} to get that last bit of damage in that you need to win

Joshnoodles

I used to run  {Dark Favor} in my mono black list because it combos well with tormented hero. Not only does it trigger heroic but it gives it a rather large front end that trade well with a lot of stuff

Won the FNM last night 4-0-0 with this deck

Sto5rm

{Thrill-kill assassin}
{Pain seer}
{Xathrid necromancer}
Lol for days

I'll post my mono black aggro list later.

I don't see the point of  {Tormented Hero} in this deck. You are not taking advantage of its heroic. Are there better choices for a 1 drop?

Teysa karlov

He is a 2/1 for one he is good. And won me many a game. And I have one a game when I had them at 1 life. And could not get through for the last point. And so targeted my {tormented hero} winning the match

I understand a 2/1 for 1 is good, but they have nothing in this deck to take full advantage of the heroic.

I see want you are saying but this deck what's to kill quickly. Using the heroic slows the deck down. So he treated like a plain 2/1 one drop.

I think I'd rather play  {Underworld Connections} rather than the  {Herald of Torment}, but that's just me.

Also {Gray Merchant of Asphodel} and the  {Whip of Erebos} are great win con/sideboard tech for mono black.

There are two types of GOOD mono black in standard
1: monoblack devotion: uses demons, merchants and underworld connections to keep a constant midrange assault on your opponents life/creatures.
Often utilizing merchant as the final hit.
Uses a higher count of kill spells and draw engine and a lower count of monsters to keep control of your opponents field while you rack up on devo.
2: monoblack aggro: uses low cost cards that have either great effects or great power/toughness to mana ratio.
Uses a higher count of monsters and a lower count of kill spells to out swarm and devestate your opponent early game.
Main bread winner here would often be considered {Mogis Maurauder} due to his EXCELLENT smuggling abilities.

Both are amazing decks but have vastly different play styles
The omissions of DDemon and merchant from the aggro variant are mostly due to their lack of speed or ability to get hits in, whereas the devo version uses both and capitalizes it's immense amount of kill spells to take time and chip away at your life in chunks.

Blood Baron and U/W control are the main enemies of both decks.
While the devo variant will often loose game one to Boros burn the aggro variant can often outrace it.

:)

Thank you for this comment lots of people think MBD is the only black deck. Which is wrong.

MisterJH

Personally i like this much more, mono devotion is so freakin annoying to see every other game -.- lets get some originality here! Woo goo job on the deck looks deceivingly brutal
