My favorite is to  {Traitorous Blood} a big critter then swing and post combat  {Fling} for max damage and removal.

Fyi, you can probably do better than {Devour Flesh}. While a creature is under your control, you can use it to pay costs like {Altar's Reap} or {Ashnod's Altar}. All perfectly legal, and generally more beneficial effects than removal spells.
