Mine comes from a terrible anime I love called Detective Conan.

Detective Conan rules.

I got my name from a style of beatdown/hardcore music that was popular about bros and respect. My friends and I dubbed it "Dudecore". It was basically a joke about a soulless, meaningless, bullying type of scene.

This whole time I thought it was a reference to Sonic Youth.

I totally get down to tough guy hardcore

The Long Island, NY tough guy scene was annoying. Most bands would run with a crew that would beat up everyone in the pit, including women. Lots of skin head groups rebranded themselves as beatdown bands also. After several violent confrontations, venue closes and arrests, the scene has died down.

I don't get the reference to Sonic Youth, never really listened to them.

I can see that. There's a documentary being Kickstarted about the Long Island hardcore scene. I've only been to a handful of tough guy shows (on account of being in the south and not wanting to travel to see the bands) so I only have experiences with the actual music. Earth Crisis is still one of my favorite bands.
