also theres a lot of lands legal in modern, i was wondering if anyone could highlight the duals that are mostly used here even if they're pricey, and any other note worthy non basics

like i saw this one that comes into play tapped, and you can tap it pay to life and it gives you a colorless to spend on an instant or sorcery, and that spell can't be countered

Infect does have a presence, BUG (or some variety of it) infect is quite popular. Lands to use are:
Pretty much every deck: Shocklands ({Overgrown Tomb}), Fetchlands ({Verdant Catacomb})
Also used commonly: Manlands ({Celestial Colonnade}), Fastlands ({Razorverge Thicket}), sometimes Taplands ({Isolated Chapel})

Use Merfolk!! It's cheap and under the radar. The only matchup I have issues with is Jund

Argus pretty much covered the lands. Occasionally the filter lands are a 1 of, but they arent too common. Fetches, Manlands and shocklands are all very useful.  {Tectonic Edge} is used in lots of control/midrange decks and lots of Aggro run the fast lands for Scars. Some other utility lands see play like {Horizon Canopy} in my Bogle deck.

Naturally priority is to acquire fetches over time since they are so tough to trade for, start looking now! Hope this helps identify which lands go in which decks seriously ask me questions anytime, I love modern

sounds awesome guys thanks a lot i had a really nice record with u/b infect in standard, and so it naturally appealed to me when i was rummaging through old stuff for commander goodies last night, and happened upon the deck without the rares, and i was all like i should totally make this a commander lol. however it looks like ponder isnt legal lololol.

i'll post any ideas i have and be sure to ask questions as things pop. i was on the gatherer for like 2 hours researching 1 and 2 cost instants.

You can definitely be creative in this format, like all others, the issue is that the card pool is very large compared to standard. Since I'm relatively new to magic I found it really helpful to look at deck lists to get an idea of what a deck's core cards are.

Some of the best Modern lands, in my opinion, are Fetches and Shocks. And as for creativity, since there are so many cards and so many differnt deck types that work there is tons of creativity! And if you want a budget deck {B}{W} exalted is dirt cheap- usually around 80$, cheaper than everything I've ever seen.

Yes, infect can be a BAWS if used properly.

I play lots of modern with a helping of standard and a dash of commander. Building a modern collection takes time so go into it slowly like a big cold swimming pool. It seems daunting at first but soon it becomes a refreshing and  liberating experience.

Already have the rest of the duals except filters but I may not need them since nothing Ill play is higher than 2 cmc

The onslaught fetches aren't modern legal so you don't have to worry about the high price of  {Polluted Delta}! Try and acquire the Zendikar fetches if you can

I had a play set, but I sold traded them all... Stoneco1d got a couple of them from me..
