 {Nivmagus Elemental} and  {Elite Arcanist}

Say I have both out and say a shock exiled to Elite. Can I now cast the shock (with Elite Arc.) then exile the instant with Niv to put 2 counters on Niv? If so is shock still playable on Elite Arc.

I worded that poorly but basically what happens if I exile a card with elite then cast then exile with Nizmagus?

This is the ruling from Gatherer:

You can exile a copy of an instant or sorcery spell to activate Nivmagus Elemental's ability if you control the copy.

So yes, you can do it

Mattao19

Ok cool but what happens to shock? Is it still able to be activated with Elite Arcanist?

Lyriczulu

You're copying an exiled card and casting the copy so {Elite Arcanist} can continue to cast copies even if they are then exiled by {Nivmagus Elemental}.

Hey! The elemental works well with the replicate mechanic! So...would he work if I have {djinn o illuminations} and replicated a 1 cost instant a bunch an did this after the elemental got through and exiled the copies for the counters?

Lyriczulu

It would work since {Nivmagus Elemental}'s ability works on any instant/sorcery spell you control (which includes copies)

Steerpike

He just pulls 'em right out of the stack. This would work if you had resonator'd archanist's etb ability to allow for 2 spells being exiled. You'd be able to slip out the one you don't need and let the other go through :D

My question though is the term "Storm" and the term "Cast"...

If I play 5 spells, let them resolve, then play Flusterstorm (or Ground rift, or anything with Storm really) and exile all the copies as well as the original spell, then play another Storm spell, will it copy 6 times, only 5, or 11 because of the previous storm copies?

Sorry if this is off-topic.

You get 6 copies. The storm copies aren't cast and storm counts the spells cast. The spells need only be cast for them to add to storm count, but you can definitely exile copies with the elemental if you don't want them
