No, if you say vermin, you can only use creatures that directly reference vermin or have the type "vermin". (Heads up, I checked Gatherer, there are no vermin)

No, you would not be able to use either of those cards. Every card you use must be your creature type or reference the creature type directly in the rules text. The exceptions are planeswalkers: You can use Ajani for cats, Sorin for Vampire, ect...with the exception to that exception being Humans who can only use one planeswalker (Jace, Gideon, Venser...)
