Closing Time

My first attempt at a new Standard deck. The idea is to stall the game with removal until I can play Purphoros and either Assemble the Legion or Elspeth.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Closing Time

The Archangel is mainly to buff the tokens made by the other sources but you may be right that it doesn't do much on its own.

Maybe Stormbreath Dragon instead?

Closing Time

I've revised this to try and make the early game better whilst building the sideboard to mainly deal with control

JordanCirk

I approve of the hammers in sideboard, the cards crazy against control

 {Legion's Initiative} the activate ability triggers  {Purphoros, God of the Forge} and it saves your board of a  {Supreme Verdict}

Updated to make better use of devotion.

With {Assemble the Legion} being the only thing in main with {W}, along with a playset of both {Sacred Foundry} and {Temple of Triumph}, you could probably get away with taking out those 2 plains entirely.
Maybe bring your mana base down to 23.

In that vein, besides Legion, this is essentially a really strange rdw. But I see you mentioned it as your win con, so in that case, maybe implement more cards that actually have the Battalion mechanic to really capitalize on your little attackers coming out. {Frontline Medic} for example

JordanCirk

I think 3 Purphoros is a bit much.
