"Well that escalated quickly..."

But in all seriousness, you may disagree with people but let's all calm down. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and opinions on religion, because they are so engrained into who we are, are unlikely to be changed because of an argument on a Magic app. Please either calm down or start a new thread so this thread can go on with its discussion on Myths.

All good arguments begin with a well placed joke about a space man.

Mlearner, y u do dis? Lol. And why do you tell me to "accept Dudecore's opinion" this dies not make sense to me.

Mlerner12

How Did you do that dudecore? I can't quite or anything.

Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth

You can quote posts that aren't f***ed up.

Mlerner12

Icescythe- I mean, it's what he/she thinks. And they can think whatever, just accept they think differently than you.

Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth

Let's get to the next page and see if this corrects itself.

Dudecore

I had it open before you broke everything

Everything that Dudecore has claimed of my beliefs is also his "opinion" not a scientific fact.

What is your point? And you've got a respect for science? Perfect. Why do you believe in god then?

Apathy Reactor

I accept that he thinks differently than I, that much is established. I just don't agree to let him walk all over my religion.

woah, this blew up fast 0_0  I haven't had this much success on a forum topic ever.

nonetheless, TIME TO DROP SOME SCIENCE INTO THE BITCH (excuse my french)

There is something called the Endogenous Retrovirus.  This is a very sciencey term that I suck at explaining, so instead go look up Zachary Moore's podcast on this virus.
To put this iin a nutshell, the ERT is a virus passed through the blood, carrying diseases all the way from the Black Plague.  One of which includes the vHERV.  It is a virus that is transmitted through blood or passed down from generations.  vHERV is a virus that mutates the DNA in which the creature is still a human, except it has alterations in DNA.  (before I go any further this was research conducted by Yale University.  LEAVE ME BE!) A vampire is an infected human.  A human that has it's brain enchanced.  Enhancing reaction times, processing power, muscles, immune system, etc...  How does this brain operate at such campacity, well it can't.  Unless the nutrients of human/animal (but more prerelavent in human) blood is ingested and spread throughout the system.  You might be asking, "But Flicker, blood is high in iron.  Much more then any human can ingest without complications."  Well my friend, Vampires can ingest 600% more iron then a human can without complications.

Now science story time is over.

DISCLAIMER: DO NOT TRY TO DRINK BLOOD AT HOME IN EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS UNLESS ABSOLUTELY SURE IF YOU ARE A VAMPIRE.  WE DON'T WANT ANYBODY GETTING SICK, AND DYING.

Mlerner12

IT IS FIXED! And I don't think they walked over it, I think they just briefly army-crawled and you just sorta flopped down in some mud of not-backing-down. Terrible Metaphors FTW!

I will not block communications with you Dudecore, I just don't understand why you speak these obscenities towards me and tell me that if I don't like it I can block you and get over it. I have read the old testement. The last time I checked, we are all fallen beings in total depravity in need of a savior.

Well I was listing some your options...we can discuss it at length - and I will most undoubtably be correct, or you can block me, get over it or be awoken.
What, that your interpretation of an ancient text whose meaning, use as a historic text, and overall context has been the subject of academic debate for centuries? Don't worry guys, Dudecore has it all figured out.

As for the topic at hand, there doesn't seem to be much to debate. What if these things were real has been the subject of speculative fiction for as long as these beings have been a part of popular consciousness.

The bible has been universally rejected as a historical document - except by theologians who merely need the text to be real to justify all the years of mental gymnastics required to grok that the actual creator of the universe - in all it's (alleged) omnipotence, omniscience, and omnibenevolence - came to the planet earth to favor a specific tribe, of a specific group of primates. Also this creator god only knew what people on the planet knew at the time, indicating it was written by the same tribalistic, capricious, superstitious people that god favors.

It's a myth, and this is the perfect place for this conversation. The god of Abraham is about as scary a villain that any fiction has ever produced, and people believe it's real to boot.
The Bible does some validity as a text on the early history of the Hebrews, though to what extent is largely up for debate. At any rate, my point is that you take it to be read literally, and this that is how it was always meant to be read. The obvious fictitious tropes and ideas seem to read like backwards thinking. Did it ever occur to you that it was meant to be used for parable? The very meaning of each passage is subject to debate.

Then my question is: what good reason is there to believe? The god you believe on LITERALLY wrote a book (by inspiring other people) and LITERALLY said you've got to believe in it. If you take the bible as an allegory then Genesis (the creation of the universe) and the Ten Commandments (the law that Christians claim to live by) must also be allegory. If that is true, that stands contrary to gods literal word and the foundation (a collection of reasons) people believe in it in the first place.
