Magic needs new players and there is always a shortage of girls playing.

AMEN BROTHER!!!  I need a girlfriend!

Me too! But all of the girls at school make fun of us. Today I showed my friend a commander deck I was working on and a girl said "oh you guys are still doing that. I hoped you'd outgrow it." Sad part is she was a cute girl that I liked...:(
I'm so happy that at least three girls in MY CLASS play magic... It started as my brother and I, now it's about 1/3 of us, with more wanting to learn.

About FNM, I have seen a 7-8 year old play, actually against me, and he had a deck which wasn't "hey! These are cards in a color I play!". We both had fun, and he came back the next week with a few of his friends. It really depends on how the kid is.

I first went at 11, and it was really fine, but might just be my place (Small town). I think, if they're mature, 9-10+ SHOULD be fine if they know everything they should know and how to pilot a deck well!!!!

At my FNM there is a 7 year old names Naomi. She plays Naya Human Blitz and destroyed me. She understands the game. Too well. I cried in my soul...

^ this is my fear of going to FNM, a 21yo getting curbstomped by a 7yo.  Running out of the store crying, getting into my car and driving into a tree.

Well, my buddy Yawgmoth85 had a baby recently, and we've already discussed that once she is able to read and count a little bit, we're going to start teaching her the ways of the mage. I think with grooming like that, she might have the potential to be a pro tour contender some day, where between Yawgmoth and myself, we have close to 30 years experience with the game. But on a side note, I've learned a great deal from magic, it teaches you how to thoroughly read things, math skills from having to calculate damage and token production etc, and also interpersonal skills, because it takes at least two people to play. It also sparks the creativity in a child, and critical thinking skills. So i absolutely agree with kids playing magic, and the earlier the better too lol

I just gave my 10 year pld cousin the standard How to Play guide they give you in all their bulk products and he learned right away.Currenty,my 15 year old cousin who is a girl is learning.Might have a friendly family tournament if the entire family will learn how to play.

I'm slowly getting my 6 and 4 year old into it by giving them carp commons, tokens, and basic lands... My 6 year old keeps asking for "the bird that storms" but I'm afraid that him and that card will make an Alliance...

My 7yo knows how to handle his elf/hydra deck and wants to play FNM this coming Friday being the day before his birthday and could probably hold his own if he was allowed to play(his loving mother says no)... Much envy to y'all that have a significant other that plays or is ok with the kids playing...
