Well on this thread we shall talk about things in general that are either (or going to be) a hit or a miss.  We shall justify our reasons throughout the thread, on a sole topic.

This hit or miss is on an iconic game series, Call of Duty.

While iconic, this game has had some problems along the way, including mistakes like modern warfare 3, the peacekeeper in a DLC, and overused storylines.

We shall not overlook the entire series, but instead we shall look at an upcoming instalment of the series, Call Of Duty Ghosts.

Please post your opinions here, I will comment soon.  Have fun! :)

I would rant about CoD but I'd just be beating a dead horse. And I'm pretty sure it's been beaten before.

Yeah... CoD is one of those games that is the overused game design, feel, annoyances, and such.

I was watching the trailer for Ghosts and I found myself laughing at one line in it.  When they said how fishes would move away from you when you swam closer too them.  They made it sound like a BIG DEAL!  And then I remembered back in Mario 64, how fishes would do the same thing.

You get what you came for when playing the game.  Zero strategy, shoot um up game that people play when they are bored.

However...  I am interested in their new game.

I believe they are generally trying to put in strategy in the game now.

Now I'm not saying they weren't when they made the new class system in CoD Black Ops 2 which changed things up to where you always guessed on what to put in.  Having said that, it didn't work.  But moving to Ghosts.

The new maps are supposed to be more player interactive then previous maps.  Certain things you can do, can not only kill others, but entirely change the flow of the map.  I thought they would only do this with their preorder gimmick, Freefall.  A map that is centered on a skyscraper that is falling apart as the match goes on.  So, the map changes as the game goes on longer.  Floors falling out from under you, debris landing on you, walls openning up making for new options in paths.  I was interested in it.  Then they said they were doing it with all the maps, and I was excited.

The story, I could care less about because I never paid any attention to the story.  But, I might acually play through this campaign.  Not because it is a new story (although that is refreshing), not because there is a dog in it (even though I am a sucker for dogs), but because the writer of the story is the writer of Traffic.  If the people from Treyarch did this by themselves, I would resent it.  But these characters are supposed to make you emotionally attached to them.  Anyone ever play Last of Us?  You know how you began to love the main characters?  That's what they are trying to do.

Now this game could still suck, and the only reason I am hyped up could be because of the CoD formula.  Nobody knows how they do it, but they know what to give you, and when to give it to you.

Well screw it, it is a hit for me.

As long as Michael Rooker comes back as one of the voice actors, I'll like it.

CoD has so many good and bad qualities. While we like to focus on how broken the physics, guns, hitboxes, players, and storylines are, you need to remember, it is one of the most popular games out there and, although it can be rage inducing when trying to acheive something, when you play for fun, you get to have fun, and that's what it's all about. If I want to strap c-4 to my chest and slam into people before exploding, or stab everyone in the toe with my knife, it is my CoD-given right to do so.

IMO, Black Ops was the CoD saving grace, and they dumped it in the toilet with BO2. I've played a couple hours of BO2 and have no desire to play it again. It's worthless. The story in the whole game has been a cluster.love. of random explosions and dying characters. The world is always going to be in war and you'll always be playing as a different character. It's just so hard to follow. That being said, I actually really liked MW3 but hated MW2 for multiplayer.

This series mixed with the whole "Battlefield v. CoD" thing have really killed my love for FPS games.  Borderlands and good ol' Half-Life are the only FPS games I care for now.  Too many are crappy games like CoD/BF.  Although, I love me some 3rd person shooter.  Er, really just Mass Effect and Resident Evil.
