First judge experience

I got my first judging experience yesterday at a small TCGplayer tournement. I learned that while I am very good with the comprehensive rules, I need to learn the exact terminology I need to be using when issuing cautions and warnings to players. Also what the consequences are for different infractions.

At least 35, :p jk I have no idea, I would love to be a judge, but there is no way I could possible remember each rule, addendum, and everything else WotC has made for this amazing game.  I will stick with playing for now.

It's actually more about knowing how to look up the rules quickly and knowing when and how to penalize players.

To become a judge you must be a rules advisor. You must have some judge experience and you must have a level 2 or higher judge feel confident in your skills enough to open the test for you.

This is what I dread the most. When to give cautions, when to give warnings, when to issue game losses... Those questions on practice tests are often iffy for me.

How'd you enjoy the experience? Still looking forward to pursuing it after having been through a taste?

Yes very much so. I have our local L2 and the both the L1s that are working toward L2 keeping me in the loop for any other opportunities that come up.

Thanks. I know Im not ready for L1 but it's nice to know how close and obtainable it really is.
