Ok, she is my favorite card from the set and I have a pretty good question about her.

• Does her ability trigger for each life gain trigger? Like let's say I swing with 3 life linkers. Would they just get 1 +1/+1 counter or 3?

Kaleo42

Each individual cause of life gain will be a separate trigger. By my understanding of the rules this should be true, however I will wait for the ruling on the card to say for sure.

I believe in a instance of creature lifelink
You get a counter for each creature with lifelink
So if 3 creatures have it and they attack/ block you get 3 counters
But each bunch of gain such as a single spell only gives one counter

Yea that makes sense. Me and my friend were talking about it. I said that for each lifelink trigger, thy Would get counters. Even though the lifelink triggers all together, the creature lifelink trigger seperatly.

In the case of lifelink, because it is a damage property, and all combat damage is dealt simultaneously (barring first strike damage) it is read as one instance of lifegain.

Millionlittlee

Idk I'm going off the game where. That's how it happens

{archangel of thune}

It is certainly not per life gained, else it will be phrased as "for each life gained, put a +1/+1 counter..."

So it will be per instance of life gain.

All-Mana Mania

It is whenever you gain life, so I think for each trigger of life gain, they get a counter.

ELLERfeller

It would be the same as  {Ajani's Sunstriker} and it's specified if you gained say 3 life. The counters would be only 1 because of the single instance of lifelink. Not per 1 damage.

Ok i feel like I need to clear this up since people are giving multiple confusing answers.

The archangel cares about each instance of life gain not the amount gained. What this means.

If you cast {healing salve} and gain 3 life from it, you only trigger the archangel once.

If you had 3 {ajani's mantra} however you would be gaining 1 life in 3 instances. This would trigger the archangel 3 times.

In the case of Lifelink, a property of damage, during combat, all combat damage is dealt simultaneously after being assigned, This means that whether you have 1, 2, 3, or 43 creatures with lifelink dealing combat damage, you only gain 1 big chunk of life in one instance. The archangel will only trigger once in this scenario.

You are able to double up on the effect only if you have a creatures with lifelink deal damage in both the first strike and normal combat damage phases.

Note however if you use cards with psuedo lifelink, that is similar to lifelink abilities but rely on triggers instead and are not a property of damage, you will be able to trigger the angel multiple times during combat, e.g. {exalted angel} {armadillo cloak}

Kaleo42

You were almost right. Though the life is gained at the same time during combat they are individual life gains. Ill find the ruling and clear it up. I just realized that {ajani's pridemate} will have the answer.

Kaleo42

Ajani's Pridemate

8/15/2010   If multiple creatures with lifelink you control deal combat damage at the same time, the damage dealt by each of those creatures is a separate life-gaining event and Ajani's Pridemate's ability will trigger that many times.
8/15/2010   If a creature with lifelink you control deals damage to multiple creatures and/or players at the same time, the ability will trigger just once. The damage dealt by that creature is a single life-gaining event.

Paraluke

Very nice explanation from the pride!

prayos

So, the result is: 3 lifelink creatures attacking/blocking will result in 3 +1/+1 counters?
