You forget red's fighting for what they believe in, passion, and stuff.
Red's actual two word description is Passion and Chaos. Spartans ARE passion, however, Spartans are anything but Chaos.

i thought Spartans played calming music before each battle to calm emotions into piercing determination and focus. Which is a blue thing, isn't it?

Theros will be an enchantment block that plays off building blocks in M14.

Not just "enchantment matters". Game play needs to part of the set. Found a way to take enchantments and bring gods to life.

Another theme of Theros will be Heroes -- Magic's take on classic mythological tropes. art
@3:15pm

What is the mood and tone of Greek myth? Adventure, achievement, accomplishment. Hero's journey. art
@3:16pm

Monsters are another theme. Heroes need something to fight. Awesome monsters. art
@3:17pm

"If you like Minotaurs this set is for you." art
@3:18pm

Three new mechanics. One for the Heroes, Monsters, and Gods. Five total mechanics in Theros. Including something people have been asking for
@3:19pm

Three Planeswalkers; one of which is Elspeth with two new ones. art
@3:19pm

There will be a handful of gold cards but it is NOT a gold set.
@3:19pm

There is a Future shifted card in Theros.
@3:20pm

Theros is a large set, Born of the Gods is small, Journey into Nyx is small. Classic draft format.

Looks like sun Titan and a new legendary hydra spoiled. All that was released for the hydra is 2GG cc and the name Polukranos, World Eater

Hero cards look different, don't know if they're tokens or actual cards

New frames!

I believe they function like Vanguard cards. As in they go to the command zone and interact with the battlefield from there. A vanguard card may have any number of static, triggered, and/or activated abilities. As long as a vanguard card is in the command zone, its static abilities affect the game, its triggered abilities may trigger, and its activated abilities may be activated.

Think slivers are in theros? They fit the monsters theme

I don't see why not. They claim to be using the enchantments from M14 as a building block. Only reason I can think of for them not including slivers is because they want to go in another direction thematically.

I wonder if journey to nyx has a small graveyard theme...sounds like the theros storyline might end badly.....

Nyx rhymes with Styx. Like the river Styx

Believe they're staying away from that, since we'd be leaving a graveyard theme set. But that isn't a bad prediction.

For the walkers. We know Elspeth. I'm also guessing Dak, and either the merfolk walker, or a sliver walker

Birdbrain

My reasoning for Dack as a walker?

http://www.magicspoiler.com/theros-spoiler/

Also, wizards is cutting down in the story department. Which means, Dack as a pic in a theros background probably means he's going to be made as a walker...

I hope they make Fblthp a walker instead of the merfolk or a sliver walker

Edit: Dack is a Theif...the two colors that steal stuff are {R} and {U}. I'm guessing he'll be those colors

Wasn't Dack just on Ravnica? He goes everywhere the sets go, because he's the main dude in the comics. I think Kiora Atua will be on this set for sure, Dack I am not positive about.

Ok, I thought this was also a legendary block.  This is what caused them to change the rules for the legends.

By the way.  ELSPETH!!!!!!!!!!

Spikepit

I've been reading through every page waiting to say Kiora Atua will make an appearance too. The classic Zeus line "Release the Kraken" has Kiora all over it. Also, for a narrative like Magic that spans across infinite plans, I'm a little sick of endless reprints of past Planeswalkers when there's so much scope for new ones and so many mechanics they can be based on that haven't been used yet, like green's mana ramp hasn't really been PW represented yet from memory.

Just sayin. We do not ANOTHER Jace (for example) when we could actually get a Dak or a Kiora. This being said, I can see Koth in this set.
