I personally love this card, I just wanted other opinions.

Kaleo42

I have been impressed with it as a sideboard bomb as well as a massive beat for a version of wolf run bant.

Crapshooter

I honestly love it against blitz, if you can hold off the pro white life gain is beautiful

Teysa karlov

It is has protection from most removal is a bitch to kill!  I now have put  {Mizzium Mortars} I'm my side deck cos of it

Danrulz

I would like the 6 or is it 7 drop for lifelink and protection from white and black without the second skill

What version of Wolf Run Bant runs the Baron?

InfinitiveDivinity

I think that guy is amazing. He reminds me of a mini {Divinity of Pride}, slightly toned down, but still.

Steven Thieman's top 8 list from Idaho Spring States. It's on TCGplayer. I talked to him about fixing his mana base and replacing {chromatic lanturn} with more relevant cards after the tourney.

OMG yeah, his mana base is WAY far off. And yeah, Wolf Run Bant is a better description than 5C Control. I mean, it looks pretty solid, but i would drop the {Steam Vents} and add 1 Fortress or 1 {Isolated Chapel}. And I'd drop the Lantern for either {Loxodon Smiter} or {Thragtusk}. But that's just me, and I honestly am teh suck at deck building. There's a reason he can top 8 states, and I can barely top 8 FNM. :(

Kaleo42

Well he barely made the cut because his second loss was to me and I was top seed going into the top 8 cut so he got bumped up on tie breaks and I got to play him and beat him 2-0 again.

I told him goddless shrine has little use since he needs white and black for his primary win con not white or black. I also recommended {borderland ranger} and some basics in place of lanturn an some shocks or {snapcaster mage} to reuse {farseek} and other more relevant late game spells.

Is it awesome just knowing like everything about magic lol

Kaleo42

Haha, not quite everything. I know standard very well. My over all understanding comes from a few things:
First off playing with people far better or at least more eperienced than me whenever i can.
Never accepting a rule as is. This means I look into it find out why it is that way. Since I do that i am able to figure out how brand new cards work because they are bound by the same rules and reasonings.
I take the same appraoch as rules when I look at decks. This allows me a greater insight into the hive mind of magic players.
Reading anything posted on daily mtg that catches my eye. I check every day for something good, sometimes I open an article and dont close it till I get around to actually reading it when my schedule is hectic.
I almost never miss an FNM.
Lastly I push myself to be creative and origional. Even when I play a "net deck" archetype like esper control, I dont accept the net list as the best, I look at why that list loses and build to compensate in usually unexpected ways. For example {woodlot crawler} boarded against the fast aggro decks that are very unforgiving to slow playing decks.

So does top 8 in states let you move on to a bigger tournament  or only the winner? A guy from my lgs took 3/4 in Cali. For a small store we have a strong f'n group.
