As of about 30min ago I got to 3rd in state piloting Esper control. Videos of the first round in top 8 will be posted tonight, but the second round the battery died and I lost to weak draws against godly aggro draws.

This is for Idaho btw.

Very nice!! Congrats!

Falcon182

Sweet!! Congrats man! How many players? What were the prizes?

Kaleo42

32 players. That was unusual, I anticpated closer to 100 based on past events. However only 2 or 3 o the big dogs were missing.

I got 9 packs the mat and 10 pro points. First gets a champ mat, a plack, 32 packs, and an invite to a $50,000 first place event.

I realy want to do a  non lgs tourney I think I'm ready, I've only done drafts limited standard game days prerelease ect at several lgs at semi competative invirments. I also placed 1st on Friday with jund and 1st the previous Friday with junk rites

Congratz man! Nice tokens/mat. Only suggestion is to have your friend tape it from above so I can see what is happening! That's really cool, best of luck in future competitive endeavors. Down with aggro!

Trunksthemighty

Congrats man! I'm doing states today and its my first actual tournament. Any advice to a tourney like this?

Bozo_Law

He couldnt do from above in that setting.

As for advice, keep your goal in mind. Dont doubt yourself even for a second. The human brain is very good at problem solving on it's own, so if you set a clear goal your brain will think of every possible way to meet that goal. I told that to Dillon at fnm on friday when he said "it's gunna happen again, ill get to the last match and choke." He changed his thought process and got 5-0 when that last match was a losing match up.

Thanks for the props on the token and mat, I did the tokens pretty fast, but the mat took a very long time. We're thinking of using it as the template for the team mat which we'll get actually printed.

This for advice. It's very easy to psych yourself out of a win. Also, have a good attitude even when losing. Jon Finkel still loses but doesn't throw his deck across the room. Also, if its shaping up to be a long tournament, stay away from energy drinks like red bull. The crash will definitely affect your game.
