So lets pretend I have a token created via  {Advent of the Wurm}, I also have  {Collective Blessing} on the board making it an 8/8. If I populate this creature does it come in as a 5/5 or an 8/8 (BEFORE the collective blessing is taken into account)

Keyeto

It would enter as an 8/8. Static buffs alter the creature's P/T as it enters the battlefield.

AgnosticGod

Wingnut, based on Keyeto's answer I would say that the token would be a 5/5 like the original, but since the static buff of {Collective Blessing} is in affect it would automatically become an 8/8. It would not be an 11/11 like I think you are wondering.

Absolutely. Perhaps I should have explained it a bit more, good catch!

Very cool, this is what we thought, but wanted to throw it out there to be sure we had the correct understanding. Thank you for the time.

Wingnut

So in theory you could throw a  {Phytoburst} onto a token before you populate, giving whatever the tokens power a +5/+5 permenantly correct?

I'm afraid not. Your original question works because its a static buff that has an effect on all your creatures. Giving one creature a "until end of turn" buff will only apply to that creature. When you create a copy of anything, it comes into play as an exact copy of what's printed in the card (or in this case, what the token is without any buffs applied).

Wingnut

I knew it was to good to be true, gives me a reason to find a couple more collective blessings though. Thanks again.

However, if you're trying to accomplish this mega-buff scenario, I suggest {miming slime}.

That's not a bad idea, I'm putting together a selesnya deck that uses a bunch of populate, figured if I can buff the tokens while at it why the hell not. Thanks for the input.

Don't forget {Grove of the Guardian}!

Don't forget {Grove of the Guardian}!

{Gavony Township} could also prove to be useful.

Avodroc13

{Primordial Hydra} would be a great addition to a populate deck. Also, goblins would multiply fast.
