I'm not talking about that rule, I'm talking about where John Hurt actually fits in the doctors time line because he doesn't seem to fit anywhere

In Night of the Doctor, Eight regenerates into Hurt's Doctor, who is known as the War Doctor. If you want to be technical, he's the true Ninth Doctor and everyone after him is bumped up. Nine becomes Ten, Ten becomes Eleven, etc. Moffatt also said he gives us the option of not giving Hurt a number and just having eleven Doctors and one War Doctor.

In the same article, Moffatt said he doesn't intend to change the "only 12 regenerations" rule. So Eight to John Hurt used up a regeneration, but he isn't a numbered Doctor, and Capaldi will be the last Doctor unless they change the canon.

So how did 1-8 know to go to galifrey at that exact moment. The only way they could have known is if they knew there whole life

Time Lords young are shown the vortex, and can then on out see the future :)

Also 12th doctor is 1100 ish years old, but only 400 older than Hurt ;)

Okay thanks that explains it

Mikefrompluto

Yep. Also time for Time Lords isn't linear. They see everything (past, present, future) all at once in their head.

I just saw a theory that makes sense a little bit

Wrong. In the 8th doctor movie you see both regeneration a of the 8th and he has no chance to do what he does. You follow him the whole time.

The1337Magician

Is there anywhere I can watch the special? Maybe on BBC.com? I haven't been able to see it yet...

I'm sick and going on a "Best of DW marathon", and now watching Waters Of Mars. I haven't had anything up drink for over 8 hours but I'm really afraid to :-\

Quisequise

Just started watching the show last week and almost done with the 7th serial. This show is fantastic

TheRagingMage

I stayed up until 1:30 last night watching Dr. Who.

Mikefrompluto

One more week! I'm excited to see Capaldi take the reigns.
