Definitely have more than just folding tables and chairs sitting out. And invest in air fresheners to battle the scent of BO, awkwardness, and farts that every game store seemingly has.

What do you suggest besides air fresheners lmfao!!
Deodorant prerequisites for the entering of your shop?

That, of course addresses the same problem.
I do like the beanbag chair idea though. It creates a nice, relaxed environment.

And cigarette smoke.  I'm not a smoker, and the smell of it kinda chokes me up.

WORST SMELL IN THE WORLD. I hate people who stand by an entrance and smoke. Usually I just hate the actions that people take and not the people themselves, but no. I actually hate the people that do that. I wish harm is inflicted upon them on a daily basis. Its so obnoxious. Im all for someone's right to smoke, but is smoking while standing right by an entrance really necessary?

Is it apparent ive thought about this before and probably need anger management?

Lol I totally agree though!

Im glad im not alone in this world.

Fans, air conditioning, or maybe even windows.  It can get pretty hot in there, and my lgs has pretty terrible circulation.  The other lgs just props their door open and places all the tables pretty far from the door.

Hand out soap and Beano as door prizes.

Seriously, good luck on your business endeavors. I've often thought about starting my own business, and maybe one day I will make that leap.

What do you guys think bout a back door for smokers or better yet a smoker room a nice little chill place with bean bag chairs that you can sit in. I completely agree with smoking In front of a store being a bad idea it could potentially drive away the hot cheerleaders lol jk but what about the separate smoker idea!

Silent1236

I like the back door idea.  They're not in front of the main entrance and the building won't smell like smoke.

I like the back door idea for smokers. If they get their own room, the smell can travel to the rest of the place and still bother people. As a non-smoker, my nose is very sensitive to the smell (I'm sure the other non-smokers can agree). Like, if a smoker enters my home, and leaves real quick, I can still smell it hours later.

I would like a smokers point of view if they would be willing to smoke in the back door or if they would feel segregated, or not wanted and lose customers that way. I know that 50% of my local game store is smoker based

PICK ME!! IM A DIRTY SMOKER!

Lol well up here in o' Canada eh, there ain't no more smokin insides. And gots to me 5 meters(15 feet) away from doors and buildings. Something like that anyway, nobody listens to that part. But yea it's all outside.
As for us feeling segregated. Frankly if one of your smoking customers leaves your store because of that? Good. That type of person has issues. We as smokers know it's bad, and people prefer us to be away from them. Cool beans man. We're not trying to hassle non smokers, we're just enjoying a good ol cigarette. But I must say I appreciate the consideration.
Personally I like the back door two chairs and a table. Or picnic bench. It's all we need. But yea, back door that stuff. Don't need the caver fiends in the front.

Also I'm tired as hell, one eye open so if this post seems random and run on and on and on... Well I'm not sorry, but that's just why...

Thank you, that's very helpfull I like the table idea!

Yeah, Washington state has some pretty strict non-smoking laws too. It smells great here! Now if only they could enact some offensive body odor restrictions then the lgs here would be supremely pleasant. Or completely empty.

Perhaps BO is a necessary part of gaming culture. Like casinos and smoke, or boxing and sweat, or preschools and pee...

Thank you all for your help now I have one other issue, getting people to come. There are three game stores in a 30 mile radius from me and all there players are really loyal to them the problem is how do I get my players were do I search for you guys how do I advertise to convince you to give me a try?

Wackaman9001

Post something along the lines of "if your odor offends you will be asked to leave. If you have time to play you have time to shower too."  For advertising, I found my store using the store locator on wizards site. If you set up in a central location, you may get more people coming in because they don't like driving 45 minutes to play. Simply put, make it available and do your best to cater to your players once you start getting regulars and they will stay

Get a few kids from the grammar school and high school that's near by. Word of mouth goes far. But if the market is already saturated you may be SOL.
