Boros Battalion (need help)

Aggro Battalion 60 cards 4 {Sacred Foundry} 4 {Clifftop Retreat} 2 {Slayer's Stronghold} 5 {Plains} 7 {Mountain} 22 lands 3 {Frontline Medic} 4 {Boros Elite} 4 {Legion Loyalist} 2 {Spark Trooper} 4 {Hellrider} 4 {Silverblade Paladin} 3 {Ash Zealot} 2 {Lightning Mauler} 26 creatures 4 {Searing Spear} 1 {Ajani, Caller of the Pride} 4 {Boros Charm} 3 {Gather the Townsfolk} 12 other spells

From what is provided, minus the mana base, (which is something I recommend working towards before investing into expensive nonland cards, a good manabase is the start of a good deck!) I'd make these changes personally. Seeing as how you want to have your Batallion going, I'd say gear this deck more towards full on Aggro. Also possibly look into {Firemane Avenger}, she could simply replace your {Spark Trooper}s. Being able to {Lightning Helix} every turn rather than just once doesn't seem half bad. This is kinda what I've been trying to do with my girlfriends Boros Humans, it was a midrange deck with not near enough power for the title, so we're trying to make it more aggressive. We're also looking at {Gore-House Chainwalker}, he's not bad! I'd also look into {Champion of the Parish}, he's an amazing 1-drop for Humans.

Cool ideas. Thanks bro. I have Champion on my list and I think Ajani will help a lot too. Especially now that I got that Hellrider, 2 more Silverblade Paladins, and 2 more Ash Zealots. It's slowly getting there. I have 4 Avengers but actually replaced them with the spark troopers as, when I hit and combo with the double strike Paladin gives, they hit for 12 w lifelink, haste, and trample. Then w seance out, I can do that combo basically over and over. But yeah Avenger is hard to go away from. I think of the Trooper doesn't work at all Tuesday, I'll go ahead and switch back. Just a fun idea I wanted to experiment with.

I'd you get ahold of the Champions I would run all 3 to be honest. They actually are pretty good 1-drops, {Boros Elite} can deal some very quick damage.

I got another {Assemble the Legion} and {Aurelia, the Warleader} tonight(I got ghost council and duskmantle seer too all in 4 Walmart packs lol) anyway, think I should yank the seance and put in the other Assemble the Legion and yank something else to have two Aurelia's in there?

That's what I was thinking. That 6 cost in what is essentially a low cost horde type deck probably would be a bit much.

I think you need to decide what is the main colour of the deck. Going from Champion to Ash Zealot to Silverblade is very tough on the mana.

If you go white, use  {Champion of the Parish} {Knight of Glory}  {Precinct Captain}  {War Falcon} {Thalia, Guardian of Thraben} and {Boros Elite} for the early drops.

If red, you want {Ash Zealot}  {Stromkirk Noble} {Rakdos Cackler} {Burning-Tree Emissary} {Lightning Mauler} {Stonewright}

I think the 3 and 4 drops are fine. Be sure to take 4  {Searing Spear} and 3-4  {Boros Charm} as well.

So u guys all think I should dump the 2 Mizzium Mortars and put in two more Searing Spears? I thought having the ability to hit a creature for 4, or overload and hit all their creatures for 4 was worth taking down the direct damage option by two due to the clearing of the blockers that card could produce.
But if you guys think the versatility of spear is better, I'll go w that.

Hey, I finished 5 th out of 20 people with this deck! Pretty good for me! Working for a trade to get Parish, but do have 4 Legion Loyalists now.
Crushed a lot of people using Hellrider and Mizzium Mortars cleared the board for me twice

{Mizzium Mortars} saved my butt so many times! One time a guy had some wicked combo that allowed him to make tons of tokens, so on my turn I used overload and wiped his massive army out and hit with my Boros guys.
Basically it really came in handy against other Boros decks, even taking out {Aurelia, the Warleader}

I just go 4 {Slayer Stronghold} cards. Seems perfect for this deck. How many do you think I should add?

Would just use two at the most, they are good but could screw you over if you have too many as its all colourless.

Does anyone think replacing the {Ash Zealot} cards with {Lightning Mauler} would be better? Would be less locked into that one color and would hand off haste.
Also was thinking of going to 4 total {Boros Elite} to speed the deck up.

If you want aggro then market is better than ash zealot.  Haste should be big for you to do damage quickly and attack every turn with as many creatures as possible.  You are also right about being easier to cast.
