So I loosen my heart strings in high hopes of starting to find something truthful.

Religion is never really the problem. It's the people that follow the religion.

A shocking amount of people call themselves Christians and go around ignoring the two most important commandments. Put simply they are "follow God, love people."

The parents disowning their children for being homosexual or not following the faith;

1 Timothy 5:8

But if anyone does not provide for their own relatives, especially members of their household, they have denied the faith and are worse than an unbeliever.

The bible is pretty clear on not holding others to the standards of the bible, unless they claim to hold themselves to it.

Yeah, that means the anti-gay parades and the people standing outside the abortion clinic aren't following the faith in those acts.

All this to say, if you have a negative view on religion, I'm with you. A bunch of misguided angry people use it as justification to do horrible things, and it sickens me. An evaluation of these things is a large part of why I hesitate to call myself a Christian. I do not stand beside so many things that "Christians" do.

Same thing goes for Muslims. Most of them do not stand by ISIS. They are generally peaceful, kind people.  In fact, ISIS is killing massive amounts of Muslims. I'd site my sources but it's damned hard to find a good news report. I wonder why...

Hope I haven't aggravated anyone, just wanted to share my two cents.

has nothing to do with that.  Its being forced to go that drives me nuts because i hate it.

That is understandable. I don't like going to church either.

You might be surprised how much we religious folks would agree with you on certain things.
Christianity is not about doctrine, dogma, forcing faith on anyone, or putting down people with different views.
It is about a relationship with God and a guide to daily living.
It is also a gift, to be taken or rejected.
Take it or leave it, but you can't force it.

While a certain amount of ritual can attribute to the experience of devotion, when it becomes a chore, it loses its meaning. Better to let your religion, or moral code, or whatnot, influence your day to day life.
(That said, your moral code is yours and could never be forced on anyone else. You could come with compelling arguments why it would be a good idea, but the choice comes from the individual.)

In other news: I finally got around to building Epic Hedrons. The idea of using {enduring ideal} to make a clock of about 3 turns has been floating around for a while. The result is in the casual section.

@Taysby, maybe it turns out she likes that about you. She can't be manipulated or coerced, but she can grow to like you.

The only moral code that I believe everyone should be held to is live and let live.

Having taken physics, it's insane how much speed actually effects force. To the power of, not multiplicitvley. Combine that with the difference in weight, and those videos of semis demolishing cars with barely a scratch make more sense.
