Can someone bump the topic about banding? My friend is going to waste his money on a banding deck and hes convinced it is good.

Silent1236

I honestly think it could be sort of good if you can decipher what the hell it means.

Banding is not good. End of story. In fact it's the worst mechanic ever printed by WOTC. They've admitted it several times

Double-O-Scotch

Ya, but stackable banding...look out lol

Dudecore

Bands a make her dance

Quackmaster5

I STILL BELIEVE IN THE BAND! I still believe....  Actually, come to think of it, banding plus battalion wouldn't be a bad combo I think.

Birdbrain

What the heck does banding do anyway? It's confusing

MisterJH

How i interpret it is that the band is a single entity, and all damage is combined into one. So blocking one creature blocks all damage, but allows the attacker to distribute the damage however they want, rather than the defending olayer choosing which creatures receive what damage.

oh...hmmm. I can think of some cool combos with this. Creatures that do stuff when there damaged and/or depending on the amount of damage...you could also cause death triggers to happen this way. I'm sure there is SOME cool use with it. Else they wouldn't have printed it. Unless this was before play tests were an interval part of the design/development procress. Hmmm, I wonder if there's actually a way to make it highly competitive in vintage/legacy.....

Birdbrain

Can you band a band to another band? I think it would have to go along with something that helps deal with all the attackers that will get through

Birdbrain

I know! Force creatures to block the band and do death triggers and damage triggers!

MisterJH

Well the cards still act individually, so not all creatures would get deathtouch in example jus because 1 does. Idk how the effect would work however since all damage is done together. It may actually prevent static effects like tht from working in a band, idk. Also banding cannot band with other bands. Everycard with banding tht attacks MUST be in a single band, and you may add one creature to the band that does not have banding

Birdbrain

I understood they don't share abilities. I'm just trying to find creative ways to use it. An excersize so I can identify sleeper cards in limited

MisterJH

I know they dont share abilities but how would deathtouch work then? The damage is lumped together into one attacking entity, the damage is a single unit and you no longer control whch creatures deal which damage. So how would combat damage with deathtouch be dealt if no you cannot assign the deathtouch creature's damage individually, and the band does not gain the ability? Im so confused.

Birdbrain

I didn't say "death touch" I said "death trigger"
