Magic Girls

In general, I've never really had any trouble with girls in any sort of social situation; I've got enough charisma on my side to handle that. There has, however, always been the fact that I am a complete closet nerd. Thus said, I've never had the heart to tell a girl about my nerdy habits that I have outside of public life. It's scary... haha.
Now, my fantasies include a beautiful girlfriend who will also play mtg with me (and enjoy it). Any of you lucky dogs living out my dreams? I hope so, because I'd like to know how you converted her to the magic-playing dame you know and love. How did you present it to her? Perhaps you played in front of her? I have no idea. Share your knowledge, brothers.

My girlfriend actually got me into magic. She plays casually and I'm into it super hard now haha, guess I just got lucky

The best why I have found is inviting them to fnm so they can see yes there are nerds there but a majority of magic players arent nerds at all.

Also, some women actually like nerds. I remember from an episode of smallville, Lois saying "give me a nerd with glasses any day of the week." that's kind of the mentality lately with attractiveness. Mainly it's the intelegence. So, show off your intelligence without being too in your face about it. And bring up things you know without being to "na na na na boo boo" about it

IMHO find a girlfriend, love her and cherish her....

Keep her separate from magic. Everyone needs a thing that is kind of their thing... You know?

It seems like it might be cool, but so is having an excuse to get away from them for 3 or 4 hours once a week

Sounds like you are speaking from experience. To me it is a hobby that I can afford to have right now. My wife jokes about it but she also jokes about me working out soo...I guess what I am saying is that its not a big deal. You can keep it seperate from some friends and some you can share it with.

My best mate's girlfriend plays magic,

Mine hates it

The wife could care less about magic. At the Gatecrash prerelease a 1/4 of the competitors were female and 2/4 in the final. My first round opponent had his gf lingering, chatting mid game about everything. Drove me crazy!

I started to play because I saw my boyfriend having fun and socializing around magic, which was more fun then watching him play video games most days  :p now me and another couple play together alot

You know, I see your point, right down to the tip... I guess that's true. Nonetheless! There are other ways to get that.
I guess my issue is that where I live there are little to no nerdy/intelligent girls. Most are your typical high school sluts n rich girls. I talk to a plethora of females and have yet to know one who does anything of the sort. Guess it's just bad luck...

Don't mix your hobbies and love life. It's really not that important. Every girlfriend Ive had knows I play magic, they don't ask me to teach them, and I don't offer.

It's much, much simpler that way.

This put a weird image in my head...

If youre looking for a girlfriend then dont bother making any deal out of it. If youre looking for someone you can actually spend any major portion if not all of your life with then they need to respect (not necessarily agree with) you on all aspects of your life and you theirs. Nicki is great and has mixxed feelings about magic, but she knows that it is contained to 6pm-1am every friday and two weeks every quarter for the new sets. Sure I play outside of that, but never if it conflicts with her in any way. I have "my time" which she is welcome to be a part of if she chooses and if she is actually feeling up to it (which is about once a month). Setting such boundries is key, it makes a woman feel she has an accountable man and it gives the man "his time" that cant be complained about because she isnt getting blindsided by anything. That is what I have found for a successful and loving long term relationship courtesy of some friends and business parters of ours who have set a great example.

I taught my gf how to play. She picked it up sooo quickly. She now schools me on a daily basis. Gonna have to marry this one...

I disagree with some points here, but see them respectfully. I'm looking for that girl who is not only a significant other but a best friend. I had it once but it slipped away. it's not a super high priority on my mind right now, since I've just recently left a relationship. I've just never met a girl who plays magic. Need some of those girls in my life!!

I see both arguments being valid. Im getting married in a 2 months and this is one of those areas that has been touchy for me. My girl knows how to play, but thinks its dumb. She respects my decision to play this game and she understands why i do play it.

If a girl really likes/loves you, they shouldnt care if you play MTG. Just keep in mind what is most important in the relationship... i.e Her!
