I am probably gonna have to go to all 4 of the prereleases lol. I can never choose my guild. So why not pick all 4 of my favorite. Izzet, gruul, rakdos and BOROS!!!!!

Jlamb5

I'm planning on going to all 5 that my LGS offers. It's tough and exhausting but very enjoyable. After finishing in top 8 the 32 at the Gatecrash release I think I'm getting better at this limited style.

Okay so I know I'm going to one prerelease with izzet/gruul and I know I'm going to the other with orzhov, what secret ally would you guys suggest for the second?

You do realize you don't choose your second guild right? You choose one and have a pack for another guild that you get randomly, the only certain is it's from the other set and shares a color. So for every guild there are 4 possibilities. Say azorius, possibilities are orzhov, dimir, boros or simic.

That's what I get for only going to mythicspoiler
So what about gruul for one and golgari for the other?

Gorzo

You will get a random guild ally that shares a color with your guild, but is in the opposite set (GtC or RtR) of your own guild.

So for example, Gruul is from Gatecrash. It will get a guild from RtR as its' ally, that shares either red (Izzet, Rakdos) or green (Selesnya, Golgari). Gruul cannot get Azorious as an ally.

Golgari will get an ally from GateCrash that shares either green (Gruul, Simic) or black (Orzhov, Dimir). Golgari cannot get Boros as its ally.

Raiderrob

The guild pack will say on the backside what ally guild it has in it.

Anybody plan on doing a midnight release?

Oh yes, I am. Because I'm an idiot and an mtg addict :D I am already signed up with Rakdos. Hoping my ally will be gruul or boros!

Ok so this is my first sealed deck prerelease and i was wondering about basic lands. Do we bring our own or are they generally provided?

They are usually provided. Many players still choose to bring their own land for a couple of reasons, though.

I bring my own land myself for 2 reasons.

1) it's convenient to not have to get up after building your deck to sleeve and do some sample draws. I like to get into the zone, and use every bit of that pre-game time to test and think about my deck, and being able to be lazy and stay put gives me a couple extra sample draws worth of time. I also save some hassle at the end of the night, when I can toss my deck in my backpack and go without needing to sort out the lands, de-sleeve them all, and return them.

2) if for some reason I/you want to play without sleeves, using borrowed lands, which have seen as much play as my ex girlfriend, in a deck with brand new cards, which are so crisp that they literally just came out of the pack 30 seconds ago, can create a "marked card" issue.

Edit: I know I've rambled on a bit too long already here, but just wanted to add: if you bring your own land, you'll only need to bring 17 of each color. A limited format 40-card is typically highly recommended to contain 17 land. So bringing 17 of each assures you have enough for any deck, even if you manage to pull off a mono-color deck with 0 non-basic lands (which is essentially impossible to accomplish in Dragon's Maze - bringing 10 of each color is probably quite safe.)

Thank you for a well detailed explanation. I guess ill bring my own land for the convinience and not having to bother at the end of the night.

With the new non-basic land slot, the fact that shock lands can fill that spot OR the regular rare slot, and the fact that this is a smaller set, that statistic just can't possibly be accurate.
