What's always pryed at my mind was how rare and valued this (and similar cards) is, when something like {Boros Garrison} or {Simic Growth Chamber} is common. Can anyone explain?

While it makes up for it next turn, being out two mana can often hurt more than it can help. Those lands don't put you ahead until after the third turn since they were put into play. Example: you have a mountain in play on T1 . T2 you play a {boros garrison}, it comes into play tapped, mountain goes back to hand. You have two less mana to play anything. T3, you put the mountain back into play and you have access to three mana, the same amount you'd have if you never played the {boros garrison} in the first place. You don't really notice until T4 when you have five mana open. In the format that those lands (modern) may be relevant in, those few turns of not having enough mana make all the difference.

Okay, I guess I never looked at it like that. If at all possible, I use the 1 mana to play a card before throwing out garrison, though. Still, 2 mana land still appeals to me for than one or the other.
