It's about more than just trades, it's also largely about helping people with deck building, rules, being nice in general, or just being helpful to the community in general. I'll give you +1 to start with, but try contributing more and keep friendly, I'm sure you'll see some karma headed your way.

Sometimes people forget to add karma for trades right away. You could send them a message after a successful trade and ask nicely if they'll give you + karma. And like its been said, karma is about more than just trading.
