Got second with my mono black heartless deck. My only loss was to the guy who came first, who was rocking a {U}{W}{B} control and milling deck. He milled me out twice with  {Jace, Memory Adept} and  {Nephalia Drownyard} quicker than I could drop him to 0.

I went 3-1 with my bant auras only loss was to the aristocrats for not having 3x {rest in peace}es in my sideboard.

5-0 at fnm with 5 color control.
-Beat elven ramp fairly easy, one wrath and then turn aggro with kessig.
-Beat orzhov bleed with relative ease.
-Beat sylvan crypt. This was an interesting deck. The basic idea was {crypt ghast} and dork ramp into big dudes like {sylvan primordial}. The land destruction sub theme was threatening but some well played {slaughter games} and {snapcaster mage} got it.
-Beat werewolves. Lost game one to rush and then brought in extra creatures that were bigger than his to buy time into {terminus}. Games two and three were easy.
-Beat american control. This was difficult to play but over all a fairly easy match when you play carefully.
P.S. Oddly {rhox faithmender} made a huge impact on the games tonight. The extra life, the blocking, and the durability to survive and then get pumped with kessig.

Dennis and Danny from my team each got 4-1 with reanimator combo. Dillon got 3-2 or 4-1 (i didnt hear how his last match went) with Roach which is the esper token/ aristocrat build I developed.

This past Friday I went 4-1 with my bant auras so I top 4ed. Lost to Red Green agro. I've reconfigured my deck deck again and after main boarding a couple of {detention spheres}, {Garruk relentless}, and a 4th {gift of orzhova} I'm ready to try again this upcoming Friday.

{feeling of dread} usually gets you enough time to get it in that match up.

I was going to go with feeling of dread and it's in the sideboard but it just didn't do enough to be main boarded. I was overwhelmed with too many creatures, usually of the same name. Plus the enchantments add to the synergy and the Garruk can also be a force against control.

40 lost in the top 4 to junk reanimator I was playing my home brew deck bant {seance} / {parallel lives} life deck you can see the deck on my twitch channel @ twitchtv.com/mtgrebel1 one game I was at 160 life with 24 beasts go and watch it ;p

Zombies, you kill it, I bring it back

Bah, second again. I needed good opening hands against the first place deck but didn't get them. Her deck was just too quick and I didn't have enough answers. A few more turns tho and it would have been a different story.
Oh well. Still happy with 2nd place again.

Hey, I'm playing in my first Standard FNM next weekend. Any suggestions? I've heard tri color decks are better than mono or guilds.

Wally

It really depends on what everyone else is playing. Just build a deck that is fun to play, and go see what everyone else has. :)
Unless you can build a turn 3 win deck, then just do that. GL HF.

I went 3-2 last night with my bant midrange deck.  My 2 losses were to the same deck archetype, esper control.  This was a much larger fnm than I'm used to, and a different shop than I usually go to.  I needed  {Witchbane Orb}, and  {Psychic Spiral} in my sideboard, but esper control is never played at the little shop that I usually go to.  Much different meta there. :/

I'd say 3 color decks are alot of fun. I started out using a mono red deck but got bored with no options, 3-4 colors gives you those options. My two favorite builds are Naya and Jund, check out my profile for a Naya-midrange build I'm playing this Friday!

5-0 with werewolves this week. Ill explain and post a deck tech in the coming days.
I beat a jund aggro using high power golgari colored dudes with red burn and {madcap skills} and some rakdos color top end like {falkenrath aristocrat}. 2-0

Next was rakdos midrange. I thought it was aggro cause I saw {stromkirk noble} early but then he dropped all this burn and kill before playing a {desecration demon} that got there. So games two and three I out raced him knowing how I should play. 2-1

Game three I thought it was junk reanimator but I beat it two fast to tell. So I sideboarded incorrectly and lost game two. It turned out to be a junk utility (low cost, high impact cards like {deathrite shaman} and {vampire nighthawk}). Once I figured out how to sideboard properly for it I took it. 2-1

Wolf run bant. Shouldve been a hard match but I played around it properly game one since I know the archetype so well I could practically see his hand based on what and how he played. Game two I out raced the wrath with some good sideboarding. 2-0

Jund...my least favorite matchup. This guy stomped my 5CC last time we played and I wasnt sure how it would go. I rationed my threats well and forced awkward plays and blocks while maintaining a threating board presence that could deal damage every turn no matter how small. Game two I sided into a slight speed up but kept some top end so {thragtusk} and {garruk, primal hunter} couldnt bully me out. 2-0
