     Synergy Saturdays #1: Defenders

Synergy Saturdays is a series that hopefully I will be posting on every Saturday, and it will provide combo/synergy ideas that work well if you make a deck around them. Most times I will have made a deck already, and posted in Standard. If not, I will say so, and you will be able to spark your creativity to create one of your own masterpieces.

Todays deck- UG Defender Mill/Combo
Went 4-0 on Cockatrice

Synergy: Defenders

{Sheltering Word}

Very good with defenders, and as a bonus, gives it hexproof. You use it on any big-toughness creature, for example {Hover Barrier} and you gain lots of life, and protect the creature.

{Feed the Pack}

My deck is based on this- keep saccing defenders with big toughness, and just keep the tokens coming.

SUPER SYNERGY!

In this section, at the end of each article, I will post one play that you can use if you have all the cards from it in hand. It makes the most out of these cards, and sometimes even makes bad cards turn into game-winners!

{Feed the Pack}
{Tree of Redemption}

Tap the tree, and make your life total 13. Its toughness is now 20. Sac it with FTP, and make 20 2/2 wolves ({Intangible Virtue}? {Trostani, Selesnya's Voice}?) and then use The Word to gain back 20.
