Battle cry + unblockable

Tell me if this works or not. I have on the field a {Signal Pest} a {Goblin Tunneler} and a {Manic Vandal}. I tap {Goblin Tunneler} to make {Manic Vandal} unblockable. When i attack with both {Signal Pest} and {Manic Vandal} would the battle cry make {Manic Vandal} blockable?

It will not be blockable because when the tunneler's ability targets the vandal it is a 2/2 then during the combat step the battle cry activates and makes vandal a 3/2 unblockable
