What happened to extended?

I just noticed extended is gon from the format page on this app

It died natural death. Decks from there were moved to Other.

My guess would be that because hardly anyone wants to play this format. Why? My guess would be because it sucks in comparison to other formats.

No one was using the forum, and it made room for "Draft and Sealed" forum. Which is already more active then extended. Also, Wizards doesn't support that format, and instead shifted toward Modern.
