Add to Mana pool?

Kinda simple questions sorcery and card abilities that say add a certain amount of mana to your mana pool, is that permanent or temporary?

Temporary. All mana empties as steps and phases end

Land works the same way when you tap a land you're adding to your mana pool

One time a friend of mine won because he played {Pyretic Ritual} and we thought it was permanent

When I first introduced my friend to magc he tried playing that card the way thought he had 3 red mana available to home every turn plus his lands
