I just pulled this card from a pack and wow, to me, this seems like a brutally powerful card. Cost is 2FX and for ever extra land you tap for X, he gets a +1/+1 counter and at the beginning of your upkeep you double the number of counters on him, when he gets to 10/10 he gets trample.

Has anyone used {Primordial Hydra} and had success with it? Tempts me to make a green stompy.

Oh it can definitely be brutal.  If it isn't instantly killed or countered, it makes a very big mess

AgrusKos

Such a powerful card. It would cost way more if it wasn't so easily killed early on

The complaint I've seen most often is when it gets mana leaked, doom bladed, ect. But isn't that the same risk with most cards?

Coffee Vampire

Imho it's overrated. One of those cards that looks good but is not so great. For one, it costs you 4 mana for a vanilla card. Pretty useless when it hots the field.

The only time I eve saw primordial hyrda being effective at FNM was when a control deck stole it and won with it because the deck that casted it didn't have an answer :p

Yes but primordial at the beginning doesn't really do much but does become out Of control really quickly. Also no ETB effects or passive protection it doesn't stand well vs. titans or other fattehs.

I do think though in RTR simic will use the counters more and make it a very powerful card :) .

Doesn't cost 4, only 2 and anything else adds counters. I was thinking a late game play when you have 4-5 out OR in combination with {Somberwald Mage} , tap the Mage, there is 3 mana, make it a turn 4 play or the Hydra and he's coming out  5/5 then 10/10 the next turn.
Doomblade would be a worry, but aren't cards like that always a worry? I use bait cards, ones that look dangerous and will get taken out first while my real goal is something like the Hydra. Imagine having 2 Somberwald or any other mana generators out plus tapping regular mana.

I think this card could be brutal but it would have to be played wisely with timing and proper set up. I'd take this over {GhoulTree}

I'll try it out Tuesday, see how it goes.

Plus I'd throw {Lightning Greaves}, {Neurok Stealthsuit}, or {Whispersilk Cloak} on him ASAP . Especially the cloak, unblockable and can't be the target of spells or abilities.

Works great with the sage.  As I said before, you just have to look out for counters.  So many people run blue and mana leak is annoying when you use all your lands to beef him up.

I use mine with a swiftfoots boots. Helps. :)

Thorn

He is cool but Impractical. He takes to long to get big.

That's why the greaves would be on fast lol

I used to have an elf mana ramp del that creamed in fnm and basically I used P. Hydra as a late game card when my ramp is in full effect. I would wait until I had several lanowar elves or greenweaver Druids then cast the hydra with enough mana left over to be ready for a mana leak and yeah defiantly make him hexproof as soon as you can good luck!
