How can I check how old cards are to see how much longer there in standard for ?

Main card im looking at here is {vapor snag} but it would b sweet to know how to check on my own

Look up the card on this app or online to find out what set its from. Then, on this app there is a stocked thread in Standard I believe that shows you how long cards will be in standard and when they rotate out.

But {Vapor Snag} will be out of standard on Oct 5, 2012. That's when the new block comes out, Return to Ravnica.

No no no! Use it while you can!

And once it's out you can replace it with {Unsummon}. Same thing without the lost life. Which is kinda cool invade you need to use it on your own creature. 😉

Unsummon was just reprinted in M13. So it's still good for another year! 👍
