Is this even legal?  Anywhere?  Maybe Legacy, but I still don't know about 3 Academies.

Frankly, if you can afford a {Black Lotus}, you should be allowed to play it, by gum!

I prefer {rolling thunder} to {fireball}, but I could see how it might be harder to get two red mana in your pool.
