Here's what you need to build a truly competitive mono black infect-
Drop 4 toxic nim for four plague stinger.
Drop 2 skittles and the 2 plague myr for 4 whispering specter. It's a very strong card...
Is anyone else thinking 'Curly Brackets!!!'?

Here's the list that really dominates:
24 land
20 swamp
4 {Inkmoth Nexus}
Creatures
4 {Phyrexian Crusader}
4 {Plague Stinger}
4 {Whispering Specter}
2 {Skytherix, The Blight Dragon}
Artifacts
4 {Lashwrithe}
3 {Trigon of Rage}
2 {Contagion Clasp}
Other
2 {Black Sun's Zenith}
4 {Despise} (or distress)
4 {Doomblade}
3 {Go for the Throat} (or {Virulent Wound} up to you)

Spikepit what did I do wrong ): I just want to help

Greg54js

Just so everyone knows I'm trying to keep my costs for this deck under $100 not trying to win nationals or anything. Just trying to win a few standard tournaments and possibly a higher up tournament. But I appreciate all of the help :) the inkmoth nexus isn't going to happen though. I'm not droppin $10 ea for 4 lands. I'd drop that kind of money on creatures instead.

Nothing wrong, as in 'you're in trouble now, Mister' but we just have to remember to make this forum accessible to the new players of MtG who don't know the cards by linking each card to the database so we can see your suggestions. It's all good, just crank out those curly brackets, it makes it easier for everyone in the long run.

That being said, great deck suggestions and I totally agree with your choices, especially the {Whispering Spectre}s! I might actually revisit my monoblack now. 😊

@Greg, inkmoth nexus is a creature, and very handy when you go through something like a {Day of Judgment} It's one of the better parts of the deck, and from the look of it, the only creatures you need for improvement are fairly inexpensive. Coming from an intense standard environment where there were a solid 8 mbi decks, 5 in the top 8, those are detrimental.
@spikepit, got em all! Except swamp. Doubt that's an issue. And yeah the specters are beautiful against control

Oh boy! Everyone is just rushing to pacify your skithirix! If u play another one, they both die! (srsly tho, you don't really need him to win, drawing multiple in one hand is a headache)

Wow! And here I thought I was the only one who knew about sarcasm. Ouch!  Oh of course you don't need it to win, but if you've already given your opponent at least two poision counters then if they don't deal with the dragon they're dead in two.

Oh definitely. I'm not denouncing the power of skithirix, but the thing is, you don't want to draw him alot. One is enough, two is plenty, any more and it will suck for you

People run pacifism in standard?! What?!

No they dont... It's dumb.... Bad example

Prophylaxis

Check out Jacob Van Lunen's article, "Poisonous" for ideas on how to build thus archetype.

I love MBI. I would consider {Curse of Death's Hold} as potential sb card.
